Default Buying Advice Needed ASAP Please..

OK, i hope you can all give me a few hints and tips etc, as this will be my first WRX.

I am going to view a 2002 ( 52 plate ) Subaru Impreza WRX ( uk model ) It has had 1 previous owner and currently has 12,000 miles on the clock. It has full service history. It has a sport back box, totally standard apart from that.

I am viewing thisavo.

What things should i look out for ? any weak spots on these cars etc ?
If it has got warranty left on the car, will i be covered by this warranty or do i have to transfer it etc ?

All advice and any other things i should check or look out for will be highly appreciated.

The car is being sold by a trader.

Cheers
Marc.

Hmmm, sounds like most of the bases are covered then: the most imp thieng when buying a Scooby is that the car has been maintained meticulously. Is the service history from a Subaru dealer or specialist? General advice: it's a buyer's market at the moment. Don't let your heart rule your head, if there is anything that you don't like, walk away...they'll be others. Haggle hard if you decide to make the plunge. Depending on the status of the trader a full HPI check and even AA inspectinon might be wise.

Best and enjoy!

I will be waiting till the new year......and hopefully the wrx's will be a bit cheaper.

MGG,

The only recurring fault that I have come across (and its a minor one) is that the drivers side window mechanism manages to unbolt itself, resulting in the drivers window not working properly. Other than that, excellent cars.

As mentioned above, its a buyers market at the moment and there are a lot of WRX's out there. Don't rush into anything.

Good luck

Martin

i bought an 02 WRX PPP privately a couple of months ago...it came with the anthracite 18" prodrive wheels and headlights from the UK300, its an absolute cracker...i picked it up for £14100, he was asking 14500...i was also looking at a far lower spec model from a dealer, and he wanted nearly the same price...buy private if you can...!!!

Buying privately is good advice for the bargins, but if you take this route, you MUST get a HPI and AA inspection done. Also, chat to the owner, see if he knows what oil is in the car, the service schedule, proper warming up/cooling down procedure, the place where it is serviced etc... even complete mechanical luddites like me do their homework on these issues. It's a good way of differentiating those who just "liked" the car to those that have cherished it.

Best.

Best.

Ok guys, i took the plunge and put a deposit down on the car i viewed.

Its a 52 Plate WRX with a full WR Sport Exhaust system, apart from that its totally standard.
Its in showroom condition inside and out.
Full HPI
only 1 owner from new
12,000 miles on the clock
full subaru service history
UK Car

Got the car from a Trader. He specialises in japanese type cars, very decent bloke and knows his stuff. I also have come back as its from a Trader, which is very assuring.

The car was priced at £12895...........did a deal and got it for £12300.

I am well pleased.
Had a test drive and all i can say is fooking hell!!
What a fookin car, the noise ......the speed......the looks.

This is my first Subaru and i cant wait to pick it up on Wednesday. I will get some picks posted as soon as its in my posession.

It certainly is a buyers market, dont rush into anything, something will come along, the right time and the right price.

Thanks

Marc.
