Got a WRX PPP, insurance went up perhaps 15% and excess by 100%. Also far less companies would actually quote (and I'm 33!)

Yup - Could get it for around £650 ended up paying nearer £950 as a result (differerent co though). 32 years old - full no claims.

Main problem is that far fewer companies will quote so less places to go..

Worth it though - for the sound alone.

What I couldnt understand was, My insurance companie refused to quote for PPP but they would allow exhaust & perofrmance modifications to the car £85 extra .

Try wrx with exhaust and remap see if the price is any different than quoting PPP.

cheers

Peter

Thumbs down

A word of warning for anyone with an STI and using Tesco, I got a reasonable quote from them (03 sti ppp) what they had on their books was STI and STI Prodrive, this was from 02 when about 1000 of these cars were out, so many of each, main differences was the spoiler and trim not mechanical

They quoted about £70 more for the Prodrive, I was about to take it up, when someone said "that dosent sound right check it"

So I explained PPP to them again, and they said "no thats a modded car, not what we have down, that will be an arm and two legs please"
Asked for a superviser, he said yes thats happened before, if you had taken it you would not have been insured.
Needless to say I am not with Tescos Insurance.

Sounds all a bit expensive-
I have fully comp protected insurance and its with confused.co.uk / Admrial - cost just over £700 including the extra charge for monthly payments, the excess is just £60 quid!!
- I am 44 with full no claims 3 points.
Will ask the question and see what they say about putting on the PPP.. .

I had PPP fitted about a month ago to MY03 WRX.

Insured with Liverpool Victoria and there was no extra charge.

Could be, lets hope it doesn't go up next year!

Oh and before anyone else says it, maybe it's to do with the colour.

Most insurance companies don't charge extra because they know it only adds another 10 whp!

Privilege is worth a try. L&V wanted 980 for my renewal. Priv's net quote for a standard 03 WRX was 544. Phoned them to discuss the PPP and it went up to 650, plus 100 for protected NCD. When I called back to actually buy I talked them into giving me the internet discount, dropping it back to 678. Not bad, 302 saving on renewal

34yo, 15yr NCD, 03 WRX PPP, Leeds postcode , 3 non-fault accidents (full recovery)

Privilege wanted an extra 90 odd quid and and increase in the excess of 100 just for a backbox on my 03 WRX. Still deciding!
