Default New to scoobys, just bought a WRX

Hello Guys

After a number of Ford rs's and other hot hatchs I have finally bought myself a K plate WRX!! And I love it 1st day of ownership!

I have a few question though.

What bhp is the Wrx standard 240bhp?

I have a boost gauge and my car is running 0.7bar

I also have a blitz boost controller I have not touched yet and dont plan to unless it should be running more boost.

I have been putting optimax in the car, is this ok?? I have heard I should be putting in octaine booster but I have also heard if I remove the cars battery for a while it will reset the ecu I then take it for a spin and the ecu learns where the knock is with optimax fuel.

Any help would be great.

Thanks
James

Yep thats true as long as it's not a jap import, in which case you need to be putting octane booster in it as well. get it down and have it rolling roaded and mapperd, then u'll know what boost you can run safely.

Thanks for your reply

Yes the car is a Jap import so I will put some octane boost in it for the moment.

Out of intrest why wont the car run safely on optimax if I reset the ecu to learn when it knocks?

Any idea on my other questions?? Bhp on import wrx k reg? Standard boost?

Thanks

Japanese fuel is 100 RON , Optimax 97.8 I think, therefore the burn is reduced and you get detonation. The timing would is probably set for japanese fuel and would need to be retarded, just like me on a friday night after lots of beer for it to run safely on UK Optimax without the booster. From the sounds of it your car is modded so unless you RR it you will have no proper guess what BHP it's putting out, just make sure the cam belt has been replaced
