700 bhp scooby
well nearly. we ran our scoob an the star performance dyno on friday, spent a lot of time mapping with the motec an the end result was 693 bhp with 535 lb of torque, however when we did a last run later in the day we had 550 lb of torque but the radiator cap gave up the ghost spilt water on the rollers and we lost traction at high revs, we would like to think that it would have achieved 700 bhp, hope to run the car at crail on sunday weather permiting regards all crd

iirc correctly, christian got 600bhp and 621lbft of torque verified on an engine dyno without resorting to nitrous.

But is it running, does it run in the car etc? Engine dynos are great if they transfer (relatively speaking) across after installation.

Anyhoo, it's good figures, do you have a dyno plot for this which is viewable?
These cars are starting to achive some good figures now, our 'demonstrator' STi 7 came away from G-Force RR yesterday with 452BHP (on OEM engine internals), using normal road fuel with millers Octane +.

Rather than completely hi-jack someone elses post, I have thrown some brief information up onto the website, 452BHP HERE there is a dyno plot for Torque and power there, I have others for individual figures like boost, Lambda ATW etc.

I know I run a 2.3 but just to give a comparison regards midrange response, which is where the driving pleasure comes from, from a similar rolling road run at 4000rpm I have 390lb-ft torque, that Stg 4 conversion has 140lb-ft Just as well it has a 6 speed box

Well, kind of half right andy, it was the upper limits reached that are the initial event, we had (as you may be able to tell) an issue with boost control (insufficient range) but didn't want people questioning the end figues mentioned so posted the graph just to quiet the doubters, I'm sure you understand what I mean.
We have a fix, (stronger W/G spring) but ran out of time yesterday to apply it.
A much curvier graph is on the way imminantly. To be fair though, you're comparing apples with pears. This is a not completed kit on a standard internals, standard petrol, 2.0 litre car.

Good stuff Mike, keep up the development.
I like to see the std kit used as much as possible, many people underestimate just how good it really is.
My 95 RA ran 440 bhp on std Sti internals for some considerable time, on and off track. When it was stripped for inspection by its new owner it was found to be in excellent condition internally.

great achievement mike, keep up the good work.
to whoever asked, christian's engine is a 2.5, but it was 595bhp not 600.
But I still think power figures should be quoted without nitrous!
don't see what holding it together has to do with the power achieved. RC developments and Norris designs regularly brag about 800/900 bhp but they seem to replace engines like I do octane booster.

ND Evo is only claiming 715bhp..
RC Evo is claiming 930bhp
I don't see a problem with quoting figures with n2o, it's no worse than using race fuel for example, or even quoting figures at say, 2.3 bar on dyno, because it's not going to be driven at 2.3 bar all the time.
Nitrous is good!

The spools got nothing to do with it at this stage Conrad, on the road it's got a bar of boost at 3600.
Read back, you will see this isn't finished yet, this was after only an hour on the dyno. As soon as the boost control range issue is sorted, It will be a markedly different story.
Anyway, you don't even know the spec of the turbo on this kit, but even if it is bigger, the fact that even with an identified boost control problem, we've managed to get it to spool faster than your smaller Turbo tells a story in itself?
The bloke who mapped your car had hardware handicaps with your car as I recall that were such that no-one got anything better from them and your car also didn't do even close tothis level of performance. So much so that you ripped it all off and sold the car!
Remember, I drove your car, it was WAY different (worse) than this is already!
Our kit below this (T2) outperformed the set-up you chose if you remember and for a MASSIVE amount less as well.
