SUBARU IMPREZA WRX Type Europe??
Hiya,
Friend of mine is looking to buy the following:
SUBARU IMPREZA WRX Type Europe , 5 Doors, Manual 5 speed, Estate, Petrol, 2002 W Reg
I have never heard of a "Type Europe". Is it just a rubbish description or can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks in advance...

I would say that it means that it was a european import to the uk. i.e. not an official uk supplied car. This means that original purchase price would have been cheaper than through uk Subaru dealer and as such resale may be slightly affected. Specification may also be slightly different regards alarm and interior.
UK Subarus are called Type UK by Subaru UK.

I have a Euro import, certificate of conformity proves it exactly as UK spec. The only difference can be the alarm, as these are fitted at the dealers/subaru UK rather than at the factory - so make sure it has a cat 1 alarm upgrade fitted (Benefit can be fitting a different model to UK alarms - surprising any potential thief!). Suggest your mate looks for seller to provide similar certificate if they have it as UK spec can be insured for same price as UK car. Non UK spec = import insurance = more money. Can also register UK spec imports with subaru UK to make servicing easier at Subaru dealers.
Also, you sure about 2002 W reg? Cars registered in 2002 should be 51 plate, 02 plate or 52 plate, I'd think. Worth checking.
Finally, note that earlier 2002 imports only had the manufacturers warranty (1 year), and not the extra 2 years dealer warranty UK cars got. IIRC, late 2002 all cars got 3 years manufacturer warranty. Again, worth checking whether there is a year of warranty left or not . . .
