Good Price?
I just bought a '99 Impreza WRX STi Type-R Version 6, with 20,000km. It is totally original. I payed £8,200. Is this a good price? How much does this car normally go for in the UK?

Are you sure it's a version 6 and not a 5??

Wow, are those prices including Cyprus taxes!? Just be interesting to know what it would work out at including UK import tax and VAT..
When you say Imports, do you mean directly from japan? Do you have any contact details of any import car dealers in Cyprus? PM me if you like.
Cheers,
LC

All new Subarus are from official Subaru Cyprus dealships and the cars are UK spec.
These are Duty Free prices. Tax paid prices normally make the car more expensive than the UK.
Most second hand cars here are Japanese imports. The ones I listed above are. Because the ships bringing impoted cars from Japan to UK, stop off in Cyprus first, we tend to get pick of the bunch here. Special edition Imprezas like Type-R's, STi's, S202's, 22B's, RA's and Spec C's are easier to get here.
It costs £700(UK) to containerise and ship a car back to the UK from here and that price includes getting the car reg. in UK, No. Plates, taxed and delivered to your door and the Maritime Insurance. If its an import, then it will need to be SVA'd. You can have this done by the shipping company in the UK on arrival or arrange to have it done in Cyprus, which is alot cheaper at £300.

Hi Ewan,
Many thanks! Spoke to Maria and she's gonna see what she can do for me. Strange thing though, she reckons new STI's are 17500, not 15000 - is she mistaken?
Cheers,
LC

Dont know about the clutch as they wouldn't let me drive it on the Test Drive! (I'm too young for the Insurance!). But the car was made in Nov. 99 so it must be a Version 6. Plus it has the stronger engine that V6's have and the V6 spoiler and lip spoiler.
Dont know the colour yet.
The garage phoned Japan and they confirmed the car was blue as did the Registration forms. The Subaru garage practically took the car apart looking for signs of re-spray, but there wasn't any. The garage said the paint code on the VIN is 792. I have yet to confirm this myself!
The garage said they have seen other Scoobys this colour before (I saw a WRX wagon the same colour yesterday). I might get to show you next year as when I ship it home, I'll be up in Aberdeen. (come on the Dons!)
lem0curd:
£15,000 for a new STi is from an official Subaru dealer. That price is Duty Free.
Maria will be able to get one from eithier a Subaru dealer(which will be UK spec!) or a second hand one from Japan.
I will get some more numbers for you.

Still I have to wait to Friday to pick it up!
In the mean time I have to put up with my other car, a Suzuki Balerno 1.5, sh*tbox! :-(
