Adjustable Centre Diff On WRX-RA
Hi Everyone,
I have just Purchased a 1993 WRX RA. Model Code GC8A47D I have checked it is the RA.
As i am new to the scooby scene i borrowed a few Japaneese Performance Mags from A friend, One Being issue 13. NOv/Dec 2001 Quite old i know but it happenes to have a Scooby Buyers Guide in it.
This suggests that my car has an adjustable diff! can anyone tell me how i would adjust it?
also i have searched and found conflicting info on various sites as to its acual power output. some say 240Ps, 250Ps & 280Ps
Does anyone know the true output?
Anything else i should know about this type of car?
Thanks
Derek

only available on the WRX STI RA (like mine) switch on the center consul next to the handbrake, and a series of lights between the tacho and spedo indicate the power ratio 64:36 bottom to 50:50 top not too sure on the power though my vin code says it's a WRX RA, but sticker in drivers door shut says WRX RA - STI

ahh, the big debate continues. Have quized many people on this mate and have come to one conclusion, which is nobody nows wtf is going on!!!!.
I say this for a couple of reasons:-
the ra was the homolgation car for the wrc, therefore a variable centre diff HAD to be made at that time to qualify (93-94 and 94-95). Yet many say it first appeared in jap v5 cars and onwards called DCCD.
Certainly all literature i have read suggest the RA had a vari centre diff,
even my RA has the display on the dash for the diff settings and its a 94-95 model. And even stranger, it has elec wires coming out of the g/box centre diff area that no one to date (which may soon change) has provided an explanation for.
Prehaps an owner of a dccd fitted car could put us out of our misery and supply some piccys of the fabled unit

AFAIK the DCCD didnt come in until 94, it wasnt standard equipment though and only available on the STi type RA (optional extra).
It did feature as a standard item on the 96 V3 555 ltd edtion STi though, but not on the 555 WRX ltd edition.
The V3 type R also had the DCCD as standard, so did the V4 STi Type RA and R.
There are some ltd editons of the WRX (99/00) that i believe had the DCCD as a standard item though, i dont think anything previous to these WRX's did.
