Not sure if this is general or technical (so sorry if it's in the wrong place).
As some of you know, I am about to get a scoobie with a turbo.
Something in London has caught my eye. It is a MY98 with 40000 miles on the clock.
I realise that a big service is due on the thing, but as the car is 6 years old, should the cambelt have been changed after 4.5 years?
BTW, the guy is not getting it serviced before sold (that puts me off).

If thats so, it will (or should have) had the cambelt changed at the 3 year service, if the person that your going to buy the car off has the receipts of work done, showing this, that will be better, if not you could try going back to the dealer he had the car serviced at and seeing if they still have records on this car.
The only down side is that the 90k/6yr service is a killer in that its possably THE most expensive service you can get

Either or, and as it is just due it's next service, at 6yrs old, it will be the 90k service, which as Colin said is V. Expensive.
As long as it has FSH, and it was done at 45k, you have no problem, only use the 90k service as a bargaining tool to knock the price down as it costs £700-£800, I know I would.
