Hi folks.
I'm seriously thinking of changing the pea shooters on my MY00 with a replacement backbox. I've heard just about all of the different models on the market but have yet to hear a Prodrive one. As this is now available to order on it's own (rather than just as part of the PPP), I was wondering what people thought of it, and what it sounds like. I was hoping for something louder than the standard box, but a bit quieter than the scoobysport box. (Got to keep it comfortable for the passengers, and I want to be able to still hear the radio on those long motorway drives ).
Cheers,
Iain

I've not heard a normal uk my00 BB, but woody's Scoobysport BB is louder than my prodrive one.
The best noises from the prodrive backbox are when your creeping along in traffic in 1st and when you blip the throttle to move forward you get a few people look round at you. tee hee. Also there's the 2500 thru to 7000 revs sound in third - nuff said

Iain,
I have a Prodrive back box on my MY96 Uk saloon. Lovely throaty noise but not too loud. At least before I fitted a Magnex de-cat mid-section. Now it's even 'throatier' and the neighbours can hear me coming from a longer distance.
But it is still fine on m'ways etc.Not obtrusive in the slightest!
Dave
PS: but unless you can get a 2nd hand one you have to get the whole PPP to get one.

Thanks Fosters. I'm still weighing up the options, but the Prodrive box does sound tempting. Is it much louder than the standard MY00 box?
Cheers,

BTW Iain, I have the Scoobysport and it's not as loud as some make it out to be on a 4 door car. I believe it is louder on a 5 door.
No probs with noise on motorways, or talking to passengers.
Perhaps it's best to get a drive in someones car with a Scoobysport backbox.

Must agree with Greg on the noise of a Scoobysport back box. Had mine fitted on Saturday and I only find it a bit noisier and not a problem at all - especially during high speed motorway driving. Oh and the neighbours haven't complained yet
The only problem is that it has made my new Kenwood MD head unit and my air con redundant - I would rather have the window open and listen to the exhaust

I have a Prodrive backbox on a std 96 Turbo Wagon.
Awesome sound as you hear the turbo winding up. You can keep it quite below 3000 rpm, after that all hell breaks lose. It certainly moving to my next impreza.
