Default Service Cost

Just been quoted £750 for a full service, all oils and filters including diff oil with a cambelt change by Jennings Subaru on MY99 euro import....for the service alone it costs £500...is this a normal price or can it be cheaper... I'm in the North East, willing to travel if I can shave a bit off the price.

Martin,
The cost of the service only alters between dealer's, if the Labour costs are different, as the Parts will be the same Price IIRC

I did some time ago, find 2 local dealers had £100 difference for the same job If you happy with your Dealer, then use price match

Don't forget SIDC 10% discount

this is the normal price i'm afraid i'm in the same boat, the biggie service is my next one to do and i'm saving already!

my advice, buy as many of the service parts yourself that you can to bring the cost down. i supply my own oil, fuel filter, spark plugs and air filter. should knock a good 100 quid off the bill

other than that, have a subaru specialist do the service. save yourself a fair few quid, but wave goodbye to a full subaru service history.

over a barrel springs to mind

You really think having a specialist in the service book instead of a main dealer is going to make a lot of difference?

Give Revolution a ring. They are based on the Gateshead Quayside and have serviced mine and many other North East Scoobs

Try Champion's at Castleton, they are Subaru dealers and their son Ryan is a rally driver so well experienced at performance cars.

We have had P1 serviced there, supplied our own plugs and oil, way cheaper than Jennings!

yep.

it's fine for people who know the reputations of the specialist servicers, but if someone new to the subaru scene is looking thru an autotrader and sees 2 identical cars, one with a full subaru service history and one with part subaru history then serviced by someone they've never heard of, what car do you think they're gonna buy?

personally i'd like to have my car done by a specialist to save a few quid, but with classic scoobs so hard to shift anyway, if i can do anything that may help to get it sold come that time, then i'm gonna do it.

time willl tell if it's been worth it

Thanks guys, Scooby Clinic in Chesterfield looks the one for me..bit of a drive but could half the price...my service record isn't full anyway and I dont hold much faith in them really as I know a guy who paid someone in a dealers to stamp his book up to-date for a Toyota MR2.

Yes but you are paying more to service it so you will prob lose more than what you might gain.
