Flat Six Twin Turbo-Diesel
When I was at my dealers earlier in the year, complaining that I could'nt get a diesel Forester he said that subaru are working on a flat six twin turbo lump with another company.
Just wondering if anyone has heard anything else about it ? Sumo.

FHI's been working on a diesel engine for at least a couple of years according to an industry listing I've access to at work but I can't remember what displacement or target vehicle size it's to fit Don't think it's for impreza - more like smaller engined town car and the flat 6 mentioned is 3 litre AFAIR for something like the forrester or outback etc - shoe-horns at the ready...

Found the info on engines though to be being developed by FHI if anyone's interested:
All flat four configuration,
1.3 litre DI diesel for 2008 - for use in low fuel consumption, compact cars in Europe. All alloy?
2.0 litre DI diesel for 2004/5 - Engine under development, possibly for Forrester. Exhaust technology by Isuzu
2.0 litre gasoline (no intro date) - New 16-valve engine for use in the new Impreza. Related to 3.0 litre flat 6 engine
2.5 litre G-DI (no intro date) - First G-DI engine from Fuji, to appear in Forrester in Japanese market. Other displacements to follow.
