For f*cks sake its only a car!!!
Well, the Scooby just rolled off the drive and into the arms of a new owner.
I'm not ashamed to say I shut the door and cried like someone had died.
It may be just a lump of metal, but the last 18 months have been truly amazing. My first brand new car, my first true modern performance car, and something I've longed for for almost a decade.
Since I bought the car in November 2002 I've made some true friends for life, I've visited prodrive and been one of the few people in the world to drive the ATD prototype in anger, I've sat in service at the rally and chatted with Petter and Phil, I've given some serious exotica a run for their money, and I've singlehandedly kept shell in profit.
Also if it wasn't for the Scoob, I would never have met Trouser, and subsequently would never have set him up with my best friend Emma. Paul, the sooner you two tie the knot, the better mate, you're meant for each other.
I've also learnt a huge amount about car dynamics, and that whilst the Scoob isn't the fastest car in the world, with a few small tweaks and some practise, there are few cars in the world that can rival it for point to point speed, reliability, safety, practicality and above all, character, all in one package. From 7 year old boys, to 17 year old Nova drivers to middle aged Ferrari owners, the spectrum of appreciation for this car is like nothing I have ever seen.
Will I be back???
Difficult to say.
But don't bet against seeing me at Japfest in a few years in a Type 30
It's been a blast, and I thank you all...

FVWSH, one owner from new, its like a new car. Not a scratch, a stonechip, a kerb mark, brand new brakes and tyres, gunmetal grey metallic.
Utterly amazing. Pulls in 6th gear, ASR seems to pull it around wet roundabouts in 2nd at silly speeds, rain sensitive wipers, amazingly nice steering.
£8500 with 2 years warranty, and 3 years invoice-cost insurance protection (gives me the difference between old and new if it gets nicked or written off).
Bargain of the year IMHO.
Grandad - what happened to yours?? You changed username??

As for the user name became a Grandad last year, still got the scoob, just had it's first Mot, and is up for sale. Looking for an estate what with the pushchairs and all that.

Best car I ever bought was an elderly Legacy estate a few years back. Blew up the day after a day return blast to Newcastle and back (London) after the bottom rad hose burst. Broke my heart. I did a lot of stuff with the old girl and she paid for herself a couple of times over.
It's not just a lump of iron, it's a "vehicle" which can be:
A wheeled conveyance used on land for carrying people or goods.
But also:
A medium for communicating, expressing, or accomplishing something
Bit pissed as I write this but a car (or indeed a bike) chosen thoughtfully is an expression of oneself and becomes a vessel for journeys through life and therefore inheirit a character to which fond memories are attached.
Went to a good home thank goodness and was recycled into a mates car, otherwise, well, as it was I was close to tears...
Screwd.

I know where you are coming from. When I traded my Scoob last September it was a wretch after five years and a lot of fun.
Still miss it, but it's still about - the new owner posts on 'ere occasionally.
