Default Type 25 question...... awsome? or just better?

Ok i know a few lucky scoob luvers have now a new Type 25 to enjoy... question is how many have gone from a Sti PPP...

Before i get any further into gettin one, the big question is does it really feel that much quicker , faster, better than my MY03 STI... I think my car is quick, its too soft around the bends true but still its quick... For me to spend another 16k is it worth the $$$ really...

My car is a standard PPP nothing esle done, and i've done two scooby shootouts in it... thats it...

Now I've either ended up with a quick car , or I'm super nippy with the gear changes i don't know but the car has done some decent times... see the shootout figures...
now I'm sure the T25 is blisteringly quick after reading several articles but on the day, it was only 3-4 thenths quicker... last year was cooler though with the 13.04 , but still this year was the same temps for everyone! and i didn't really hookup my gear changes as i'd have liked...

I've not had a test yet, I know Iain is a nice guy and will give me keys, but was hopeing for someone whoes done the deed to give me a reall idea now they've had some experience with the beastie!

Anyhows thats the big???? is it as quick and as good as the reports...

The other thing is what would the residuals be like on the type 25 compared with my STi UK... i.e. if a spent 8k on the mods for my car would you think this is just a bad idea???

AAAWWWW my brain hurts!

I believe Iain's first MY05 STIs landed in the UK last week - these have the Spec C suspension geometry and the new G sensor plus the usual quick steering rack. Maybe it would be worth trying to get behind the wheel of one of these?

Got a Type 25 (my 5th Scoob) on order after driving Ian's demo, and have to say it would murder both of my Sti PPP's and the P1. It looks like i'll be getting it in September so i'll be better placed to comment then after i've done a few miles in it

I shouldn't worry about the 1/4 mile times that day a combination of 65deg inlet temp and missed gears account for them. Evo published all the in gear times etc so it should be easy to compare

Come and have a go, thats what the demostrators here for

I think I am going to just have to accept the invitation (also spoke to you when you were driving back from Brands a month or 2 back)

Sammyh: we can swap vans if you like, I bet my 'inexpensive-transport-pending-new-scooby' van is nastier than yours

When are you picking up your new motor? I'm hoping for 4th Sept myself, the first Saturday after the '54' reg comes out.

If you like the car you have, why not get the T25 suspention fitted to that one? I think its about £1500 to get it done.

Iain's probably your man for this one, but my understanding is that the Spec C (and all MY05 STIs) have different mounting points to other models, resulting in a slightly longer wheelbase. The AST suspension kit still mounts to these points, so there is still a difference.

Oh, - he should promote that, I thought they could only supply 1 yr!

Is it transferable and what sort of cost?

Is it awesome compared to STi PPP 04 - if so how exactly?

The Type 25 is probably as quick in the real world as all of the exotics i have owned bar the gt2 but is so much easier to drive and feel comfortable driving.
I am near nottingham which would be closer to yorkshire than going to Iain if you ever want to be taken for a test drive.

You are a gent, kind sir - however I live in Northants and use the Dales as my sanity play area every month or so!

I would however be grateful for a real assessment (non rose tinted!) of the T25 as an everyday car, particularly compared to an 04 STiPPP

I am looking for pretty fair ride comfort (better than STi PPP with 18" and springs) and sound level, with awesome lag free aceleration over wide range, together with characterful sound (is this possible wit the balanced manifolds?)

Also progressive breakaway with holdable roundabout speed powerslides, without abrupt slam back to neutral.

Also what would be the overall average fuel consumption and insurance?

What is the best warranty deal Ian offers - transferable 3 yr? - further extensions?!

Oh, do tell me more!

I thought the 996 T was supposed to be practical everyday car?!

rds

When I was at Powerstation someone had just sent back a new porche (the supercar one, cant remember the name) because it didn't handle as well as the T25, must say a lot. He bought his son a T25 as well.

i moved from the sti ppp (03) to a spec c (03) not being funny but i thought the ppp was quick until i tried the spec c! wow what a difference and the type 25 is supposed to be the daddy!!!!!

i would suggest to any one looking to get a sti uk to look at a standard jap import first as you can get just as good package ie, warrenty etc.... (litchfields) value and performance , jap is much more!

just wished i had bought a spec c first instead of the uk sti as i lost 3k in 6 months!

I have a Spec C Type 25, had it for almost 2 years now. Build No 25, which is nice. My last car was an STI7 - when the engine blew I had it upgraded by Powerstation to a 2.5 with a Miltek exhaust and heavier turbo - that made a big difference. When I was thinking of changing it, I took the sales guys "super tuned" STi from Tileys out for a run and it was like a wet w**k compared to mine. Decided to buy the Type 25 and it's superb. I had a run in with a Carrera 4S recently which set the benchmark. I didn't see it off, but he didn't see me off either! One of my colleagues has a very, very nice M3 and we sometimes go out to meetings and have to take both cars, that's always a laugh.....I'm changing mine next year and I feel that it's now out of my system so I'll go for something slow and sensible, then I'll chop that in for a Type 25 after 6 months...

Spoke to Iain a couple months ago about importing a Type25 from the UK to the "mainland", unfortunately I have not had the time or dough to sort any decision out yet, but I cannot stop thinking about that car!

Think Iain might be getting a call before the end of the summer!

Just have to convince the Missus that the SW was not as big as the T25!
