Default what the hell.......!

Someone asked me the other day what car I drove and I told them a subaru imprezza STI....they giggled and said "you going to get a baseball cap then!"......is this the bl**dy reaction we want when spending £30K on a new car ?? Just for one moment a BM started to look attractive, but the moment passed!

Probably because you told them you drove an imprezza

I think I've seen a 50/50 split of baseball cap wearers to not. Most of them are younger folk in older cars.

Certainly have a huge image problem - I guess the loud exhaust mods and huge spoilers are a bit confrontational on the High St - wont stop me getting a silver STi PPP this Autumn - cant wait - especially for the nice cold air across the Dales & Moors - bit concerned that a wayward sheep may get stuck in scoop though....!

Face it guys the Impreza is now seen as a Chav car. If you can't live with that then sell it but if you can't then it's a bit sad TBH.

PS I quite like my chav car

Missus calls me a chav, guy at work mentioned I was showing off me bling as I was boiling hot and had an extra button undone, several people have asked if I'm having a mid-life crisis, got asked yesterday why did I have a toy car for a 17 year old, Neighbour asked if he could hang her sheets on the rear wing - yes the one referred to as an ironing board by the missus, someone else at work how many pulls you had wiv that handle then. Oh and I've "burnt off" by the brother in law in his Mondeo.

Mind you, had more comments that are positive and frankly I don't give a flying **** about the negative ones. Brush it off m8, whatever you drive you'll get a label. Hopefully it will be sticky so they can stick it were the sun don't shine

Probably not. How many people are likely to be jealous of that type of image? Only ones that may be jealous are the nova/saxo/corsa brigade - but judging by the horrendous scoobs out there most of those have changed to scoobs anyway.

It's amazing just how far downhill a scoobs image has gone. Strangely the ones that seem to cause the most decline are those new to the fold, buying new cars. Probably always wanted one when they were "cool" so now they've got one they tend to either think they're above everyone on the road, or own the fastest thing on the road. Probably a mix of the 2 in reality. The quote above sums it up - someone comments negatively, they MUST be jealous. Well of course, who wouldn't be jealous of the fastest car on the planet (apparently)

At least some owners accept the image with a pinch of salt - shame about the materialistically weak who struggle to come to terms with it lol

I'm 22 with an MR FQ320...I don't think it's Chav, and I don't think I'm having a midlife crisis.......yet . Most of the subarus I see are driven by respectible looking people...but you do get the odd freaky chav man...I've never seen a chav driving an evo

Do you think by spending 30k you are not a chav?

Are you in denial?

Don't delay, Call 1-800-IMACHAV NOW!

disclaimer - being a chav has nothing to do with money, if you are incorrectly identified as a chav your house is at risk.

I thought we all bought Scoobys for our own satisfaction, the clubs and bbs boards are just something you pick up on as you go along. Not many cars have a community following like the Impreza.
The best part of owning the scoob is the wide range of ages who are enthusiasts.
When you were young didnt you want the fastest car at that time.
I know I did, my teen years were through the cossies. I had to wait till Iwas 24 before I got one, what a dissapointment that was.
Now im 32, married with 2 kids and have a MY00 PPP, With chav accessories. 4 1/2 jap style back box, full decat, 17" Gold alloys, clear indicators, lowered etc.......

just done a quick check and i am fully mid life crisis compliant; ridiculous sports car, fast motorbike, receeding hairline and going out with an 18 year old all present and correct! and i was only 26 on saturday!! time to organise the funeral for my 50th birthday then!

seriously tho, the undesirable (or saxo) element buying into classic scoobs did make me think of selling mine but i cant find something that feels as good to drive and gives you that feeling every time you open the garage door. so il just wait for the chavs to move onto the next great thing/crash or blow them up cos they cant afford to service tune them properly. by the time they wipe out that many old shapes minel be back to being rare again!!

very true - I'd class chavs as an epidemic though, not a community

I'd say it means if someone takes the p$ss out of something you own you get rid of it and buy something else to keep others happy,or spend all day worrying what people think of you for what you have and not who you are.

And in relation to this thread it's all about someone being worried they are driving a tacky chav car, which is fairly materialistic.

Of course i could be completly wrong on both counts

chav's and Bling Bling.

makes me laugh that so many of you have so much to say about this subject.
I myself know very little and live by my own rule's and not thinking about what other think. Try it one day.

Yes I wear a base ball cap from time to time, playing golf and when out in the sun, keeps me from burning the shaved head. Does that make me a blink bling, chaver chaver................I think not, or I could be a closet chaver...........lol......... I don't know

I would say more but I'll leave it up to all the chaver master's out there in chaver land.

If the car make you smile when you out and about, then go for it.
Who care's what others think........... unless your married or a Gfriend close, then your mind is made up for you :>)

Anyone seen "Yellow submarine" by The Beatles - Liverpool band, quite popular in the 60's aparrently. One of the characters in there had an enormous nose which it used to "hoover up" everything around - including itself in the end.

First time a saw the scoop on a new shape STi I pictured it sucking up animals and small children on it's way past.

I have this image of an embarassed and frankly annoyed sheep standing naked by the side of a road as it has the wool ripped off it's back and ingested by an STi passing at speed.

I find the scoop is an ideal holding tool when I want to make sweet love to a sheep, goat or goose.
