WHY ?
Been using ScoobyNet for about a year now but it seems lately that alot of people are more willing to shoot ya down in flames for doing or asking about something they dont like than they are to help you out ?
We all like our Cars etc for differnet reasons, we all like modifying them (or not !) in different ways and styles !
I bought a VTA Dump Valve for me Bugly a couple of months ago and when i came on here for advice all i got were sarcastic replies about 'whooshy' valves and Renault 5 Turbo's !! Not really what i hoped for !
PLEASE lets help each other out and have a laugh rather than trying to find the first oppurtunity to have a pop at someone for asking something daft or that we dont agree with and shooting them down cause they wanna use a mod we dont like etc ?
G4
PS. I own a Bugeye wiv leopard skin seats, 57" Big bore Exhaust, Halfords Wheel trims and a CB Radio !! ........ Just kiddin obviously ...... errrrr ... but if you've got them fitted they are Great ...... Honest !!

That the problem with public forums m8.... somebody always knows best if you know what I mean.
Its funny how people slag of Subaru’s yet spend all their time on SCOOBYnet... makes you wonder doesn’t it.

Hypocracy isn't dead then eh.
I don't slag off Subarus, just *some* of their owners.

Know what yer saying, too many grumpy old "i know better than you" types itching for someone to post something they dont agree with.
I love my VTA dumpvalve. Especially all the whooooshing AND all the poping and farting it makes the exhaust do as well
Does that make me a chav BTW?

the victor mature brigade.....
not everyone on here is either old before their time or is actually just plain old (!). In fact I would say that the majority of scooby owners love dump valves, flamer kits, etc it's just that most of those that do have more of a life than those that dont like that sort of kit and tend to spend far too much time on scoobynet moaning like the old b'stards they are !
ps - i'm a 32 yr old MD of a computer consultancy, married with 2 kids, a dog and a cat. Still love the sound of my fully decatted MY03 scooby with flamer kit and VTA. Those that don't like it should stick to drinking halves of bitter and discussing the state of the economy with their pals down the working mans club.

All finished ?
Pum, not seen the threads, but you may want to do some reading.
A Superchip on your Scooby... talking about having too much money.
You could have done the same for a fiver.
So keep the mad smileys to yourself for a while

G4, the reason is quite simple mate.
Because there are some very large ego's who come on Scoobynet, who also think that they are bigger / better than everbody else.
Dont worry mate, there are also some top people on here who will do everthing they can to help you out.

I know the feeling, there lots of poeple who will pick holes through your debate and criticise everything you say. Just don't take it to heart, step back, laugh at them and don't get fished in.
Personally, I love a good cat thread
As for dodgy modifications well, when you've been around here a bit and see a post writting in txt language saying to the effect = "Which iz da best dump valve for me motor that sounds wikid and makes ma ride go faster than my mates cossie..innit? " It's sooo easy and tempting to put this person right on a few "miss-interpretations" of what is considered as an improvement to a cars performance.
Also common technical questions do get rather tedious for some of the oldies to bother answering anymore, when a search could reveal the information, or for stuff like "how to post pics" which is all in the FAQ - help those that can help themselves?
All the above is probably why I have emmigrated to muppets in recent years, no trolling, no flaming, no serious teccy banter.
So, I'll sign off listing the mods to my scooby:
Stainless steel mesh cone filter
VTA seqential dumpvalve
Bleed valve
Variable Resistor on MAF and Coolant sensors
superchip
3.5" exhaust decat system
Gold wheels
Blue LED washer jets
And runs on 95Ron unleaded
Serviced with Magnatec oil and uses Halfords oil filters

Ali, sounds like a quick motah innit ?
Not having a "pop" G4, just tried to point out that there are equally people who don't want to accept good advice, and I'd wager that most of the advice given in the technical forums is sound and friendly. Ali-B is right though in that a lot of regulars have given up responding to questions that have been answered a million times.
Pum, congrats with the family but I don't think it is relevant. I'm sure you can't afford a blown engine either, and although it doesn't have to happen, the Superchip is a bit frowned upon when it comes to turbocharged cars.
Finally, we've seen more "Scoobynet is going downhill" posts in the last 5 years than you can shake a stick at. And whilst I agree in some ways, complaining about it doesn't exactly add to the quality of a BBS. And there still are quite a few friendly helpful people in the technical forums who go out of their way to help newbies.
It's *your* BBS, you make of it what you want it to be.
Now where's that latest cat thread in NSR

All those with DTA's
Your recirc DV is better unless you have had your car remapped to run a DTA, simple reason is that your standard ecu cannot adapt well enough (or is that over adapt) to the way the dta works, so instead of constant fuelling it over fuels and underfuels on dumping (ie it leans out) so can cause you problems (ie det).
For those who just modify because you heard that a full decat is good and dont have a knocklink as a safety feature (unless your car is remapped for the mods you have and even then id get a knocklink fitted ) be warned, your car can still det.
For the guy with a superchip, well if it was in there and the last owner didnt tell you then its not your fault, but they are not the greatest (far from it) but it does depend who sets it up, and like any other ecu, would need to be ajusted for any other mods you add.
Tony (no decat, no dta, just 300bhp and 312lbs of torque and an STi panel filter )
