Default Dealers now logging mods on service paperwork

Was in for a 40k service today and when I went to collect her, the dealer said that they now had to log all the mods on their paperwork. This was an instruction from Subaru.

They had noted that I had pipe work changes under the hood (samco hoses) and that the suspension had been modified.

just thought I'd let you know.

It sure will. Only totally unchanged cars will be wanted by those buying UK cars under warranty.

in all honesty so they should.
i can't see that if you have samcos they could reject a claim on the stereo for instance. but fair enough if you put a dawes on they could legimately void the warranty on the turbo/engine.

it might be cos the warrenty companies said that the Subaru was the most exspensive car to own due to warrenty work,

i would say the fuel companies would say that more like

so it might be a way of saying well yes they are but only when they have had mods,

only my thought and hey i know f>>k all

Had my 20K service today, and been told the same thing (only IM send someone around every few months or so) to do a spot check on any cars being serviced at the time

I had a 60k service back today, and there was a comment about a "non genuine back-box" on the receipt!!

they must of missed the "prodrive" stamp on the tail pipe...

I questioned the service guy who said the mechanic believed it was a aftermarket product, i explained it was part of the ppp and he promptly said he'd remove the comment off the system....

Yet another sad example of the 'controlled' country we live in. So much for 'freedom of choice, etc'

Nonsense - this would be Subaru trying to cut down on warranty claims for machines that have been modified. If you bought a TV, replaced a load of the circuitry, and then it went bang, would you seriously expect the seller to replace it? But everyone here seems to feel Subaru should warranty things that they have nothing to do with, and which in some case alter the way the car runs. Mod by all means, but don't expect Subaru to pay for it.

That would be people who still have warranties. With newish cars it's a reasonable trade-off for some: the higher cost of the work against the fact that the company will have to pay for major work. Unless you've modified your car, which is where we came in.

Had this before where the bloke who serviced the car put down aftermarket exhaust and brakes on the paperwork. I asked the guy on the desk to redo all the paperwork or I wouldn't be back.
