Whens a new Imprezza due??
#5
Lot of speculation on this one, but FWIW, I was at my local dealer (Quenby at Baldock) on Saturday asking the very same question. I am purchasing an STI in the near future and the salesman was unsure when the MY05 model is due at the dealerships. He did however confirm that the new model would not have any exterior cosmetic changes. Small interior changes to the interior and minor suspension mods. When pressed as to what these changeswere he wasn't sure. I gained the impression that its a case of wait and see!!. The only thing he seemed to be certain of was there wouldn't be an increase in price.

Must say I was confused over the whole situation when I left the dealership. It would be natural to assume that Subaru will want to clear the decks of MY04 models before pushing the MY05 facelift. But from what he was saying apart from the new switches for the heater controls ( off the Forrester apparently) and small suspension tweaks he seemed certain that was to be the extent of the changes. Whether you choose to believe that or not is debatable. If there is no price change people would surely plump for the newer model. As for me I shall wait to see if there are any stunning deals on the MY04 run out. (we live in hope!!)

Given the state of mine, (98 Turbo - ish), I won't be looking to replace for a couple of years, and given my 'mod-bug', I'll be looking at something out of warranty, so I don't feel any need to stay standard, so not really an issue ...
Anyone fancy selling me a type 25 in a couple of years for 16K, give us a shout

There was a radical new impreza in the press about a year ago - front looked like an Alpha Romeo - but no confirmation of when/if this would ever come into production. I had thought it was 05, but the Japanese pictures of the 05 model look just like the 04.
Anyone got any ideas?

according to evo magazine the suspension mods came about from some work with saab - the new saaburu wagon - the saab engineers made the front wishbones 25% stronger to radically improve turn in performance. this engineering effort is being reworked into the my05 wrx. the swedes are bloody good at that sort of thing.

Here's a link to the U.S. website, where they're showing the 2005. Obviously, forget about the 2.5 engine.
