Default Big miles

Hi, am thinking of buying a scoob, however the problem is....my work involves about 800-1000 miles a week, lots of motorway and quite a lot of stop/start. Got a not-too -bad insurance quote but can someone give me a realistic answer based on experience to these questions? 1. Fuel economy,is 30+mpg possible cruising on the motorway? 2. Servicing,I know Subaru say every 7500 miles but am I correct in thinking that more regularly would be a good idea? 3. If well serviced and only lightly modded can I expect to safely cover a mega mileage? 4. I'm assuming a UK Turbo would be better than an import for my needs? Am after a classic shape, got about 7500 to spend.Cheers!

Highly recommend the new Honda Accord diesel for that. My friend has one. It drives great and is supposed to get over 1,000 kms per tank (900 more realistic).

I do around 800 miles per week in mine, stop/start and motorway with no probs whatsoever.
I did 590 miles last weekend on the motorway and it cost me £68 in optimax.
Make sure you keep up to the 7,500 services and you should be fine.

Can i just say my m8 does do the 800 miles a week in a 02 STI...

Company car taxes for the scoob have decreased now too....

Scoobs are great cars on the track or motorway

Do 45,000 a year in mine, costs a bit but that's my choice. I'd rather take the bus than run a cheap diesel for commuting, probably would cost the same having a diesel for commute and Scoob for weekends - two cars to tax, insure, maintain, depreciate etc.

Getting 30 mpg is possible but only have got that when imense self control has been applied. If you get a bug eye it's 10,000 service intervals.

Good luck!
