Have seen a DBM with gold OZ Super T's, clear indicator lenses, short reg V8 ***?

Seen a few times in and around Manchester (Deansgate at about 7.15 this morning). Male driver with glasses, waved

If you are on here, what have you done to the exhaust? Sounds great, like a works rally car!

I want that noise!

Cool

Rough guess at the exhaust (based purely on your description obviously) ... Falkland Performance downpipe, Magnex (or is it a Scorpion) centre section, Prodrive backbox. So am I right? Hehe!

This car belongs to an active BBS member ... I'm sure he'll make himself known!

Andrew

Yes Nick it is a Prodrive backbox.

Falkland are a motorsport outfit in Scotland. They are the best impreza mail order firm I have come across, and normally the cheapest! You can reach them on 01592 773677. Their downpipe is a large appature, single pipe, very similar to the Scoobysport pipe, which I have also had lagged.

...and don't worry Darren - none of the above was free, its just Paul '**** stirrer' Frank

You will find that a lot of the exhaust note, bark and rumble is generated by the settings within the PPP ECU itself (dont try and contest me becoz i've had 3 ecus on my car with the same SS DP, SS Back Box and Magnex centre) - PPP Ecu, std ECU and Link ECU.

So, unless you buy the PPP you wont get the exact same noise just from changing the zorst system

I had been looking at the Scoobysport downpipe and backbox. Why did you go for the Falkand pipe if it the same but more expensive? Also how do I get a prodrive backbox?

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a PPP? you have it, and Sunilp has it and reckons your exhaust note is more down to that rather than the exhaust.

and more ignorance, and confusion. What is a Scorpion?

Thanks for all your help, it is appreciated I WANT THAT NOISE

Cool

PPP = Prodrive Performance Pack

Is it possible to get hold of the prodrive ECU alone somewhere?
AFAIK it's a plug&play job, no fiddling with adjustments.
Does anyone know if it works on a euro spec MY00 GT?

HP is "only" up to 240 (from understated 218), but the torque is around 350 (from 290) Nmif I remember correctly...and that'd be N-I-C-E.

PPP - as above. Prodrive Backbox is only available as part of PPP, unless you find an owner willing to part with theirs, you can't get buy them. - likewise PPP ECU.

Falkand pipe over Scoobysport - long story, mail me if you want to hear it. Essentially in the two weeks it took for SS to answer delivery questions, Falkand had delivered the pipe, and I'd had 10 days to fit it. - Falkland pipe is £10 cheaper with SIDC discount.

Scorpion is another brand of exhaust (my mid-section is from Scorpion). Good system, but downpipe is less effective as it has a partially blanked off inlet appature, thus less BHP, less torque, less noise!!

Thanks.

Is the PPP a dealer/approved option? What does it include? and how much?

PPP is dealer option only.

Cost 2k (exc transportation charge to Prodrive - which may or may not apply depending on dealer but you can take it there yourself)

Contents
1 remapped ECU complete
2 peices of uprated intercooler piping
1 STI 5/6 centre section
1 Prodrive rear box

Regards

Lightbulb

See my post about addition to WR range, Prodrive has now made a back box available seperately, it's not exactly the same, but it's another option anyway!
Cheers
