Angry Rust

My 98 Turbo is starting to show it's age

4 rust patches, about 5cm long each have come up on the roofline just by where it meets the windscreen. I take it this means the windscreen will have to come out to fix them, and a sanding / protection / respray of the affected area will be needed.

Anybody had the same, and any idea of costs involved in sorting this out???

Cheers,

Matt

I have the same probs on my98 terzo around the roof and by the ariel good thing is only the roof would need spraying so it shouldnt get too expensive, with it only bubbling it might be poss to take the window screen out, sand it down, protect it and re paint, £400???? all bodyshops differ, best bet is too get down and get a quote, wont cost anything, gonna get mine done soon when the renault goes in for a full respray, should be able to get it slightly cheaper since Im having work done on 2 cars

anti-corrosion is 6yrs as long as you've had the body services done on the car (1 & 3yrs IIRC).

Mine too - a couple of spots above the windscreen and the wheel arch as well. Thereagain, I stay in Scotland where it always rains!!! It is not as bad as Fords (used to own) which you can hear rusting!!! I used to have to get the T-Cut out every weekend to get rid of the 'running' lines!!!

Interesting that several people have rust spots above the windscreen. My MY00 has a number of bubbles coming up under the paint along the top of the screen. I'm currently engaged in a discussion with IM about it - it's nothing to do with anything I've done to the car, there's no actual paint damage or stone chips and the car's only just 4 years old and still under (extended) warranty, so as far as I'm concerned it's a quality control failure even if the warranty "doesn't cover corrosion above the waistline"...

If you think the rust around the front screen is bad, take of your front bumper and take a look behind it, almost guaranteed......

Very interesting!! I thought mine was just an isolated incident but it appears not

Perhaps IM will give us all a free respray
