Enjoy paying for your Tracker (etc.) ??
Lots of very sad threads about Subarus being stolen, keys taken from house, rumours of Trackers being easily removable. Very depressing.
Do we have to put up with this?
Imagine.....
I park my car, plip the key which locks the doors & beams the location to the local GPS receiver. If the car moves 10 feet (I'm thinking about San Francisco users here) without an update it shuts all systems off completely. Only a call to the security number with my PIN will start it again. My PIN is in my head & with my car dealer, if I forget it, security code as per my Internet Bank account (i.e. password hint or 3 day lockout).
The plip key only works if I have the keycard within 3 feet of me (e.g bluetooth). The keycard is in my wallet & changes codes with the plip each time I press it. If the plip or keycard isn't within 10 feet of the last GPS the car shuts down. If the car gets towed, I phone the dealer & they release the car.
OK I've had a beer, or two, so there's a flaw or three in my logic.
My point is, this isn't rocket science. Your dealer smiles as he takes your 20 to 30k, does he give a r@t's @ss if your car gets knicked?
Does any car manufacturer? If they did, would Tracker (etc.) exist?
I'm an idiot, and I can think of 3 ways to make my car undriveable (& driveable again in 30 seconds).
Well a relative idiot. £99 a year for a tracker? Enough said....
Steve.
p.s. untowable is another matter.......................
