Im thinking of getting a UK 1999 Subaru impreza and wanted to know the differences in models. The one im looking at is a 2000 turbo awd. Is this basically a WRX or is the WRX got any thing different i.e. suspension upgrade

as im new to the subaru world the model variety is somewhat confusing.

it is confusing and i a m not the best to advise - you will need to search the forums - however very approx the levels appear to start with that model, then the wrx is the next stage up, then sti, then sti ppp, then things like T333 and T25 !! - A wrx would be a good start for performance, however model year and other factors are a bit of a minefield...... research...research

In the 1999 model year (classic shape) the 2000 turbo was the UK version and the WRX the Japanese markets version with more pwoer (due to not needing to meet such strict emission controls),IIRC the wrx also came with A/C (an option on the UK ) and perhaps a rear wash wipe , look here for lots of info http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm
