Bought 04 Sti today!! EXCITED!!
Sorry to start a new thread......
.... but I couldn't contain myself!!
After losing my NCB in a (no fault) accident 2 and a half years ago...... got a cracking deal on a new STi from Town & County in Perth.....
....Was thinking I'd need a couple of grand plus my LandCruiser..... but he came up with a deal where I'm getting £300 BACK!!!! Amazing!!!! £25.3k for my Toyota when I was expecting £23k at the most!!
.....and to top it all..... £730 fully comp from our cracking people at elephant.... and that's who I had the claim with 2 years ago!! Good show lads, not loading up premiums for "no blame" accident claims!
I can't wait..... I can't wait.... I can't wait.... I can't wait.... Roll on the 20th June....

Congratulations mate.
I've had my MY03 STi for 6 weeks and I'm loving it. I've done 3,000miles in that time
I had a TSL Firestorm backbox fitted 2 weeks ago and I'm replacing the centre section and 2nd cat with straight pipes tomorrow.

Blimey, I'd love to hear that!!!!
The standard exhaust note was superb, especially after having a shot in the Evo 8 260.
Managed to test drive both back to back (see recent post in "other marques") & was super-impressed by the Evo..... but the STi just seemed more suited to my needs..... and the deal was too good to refuse.
And there's always PPP to lust after now too

Until you can afford the PPP I can highly recommend you get yourself a performance backbox. It will really enhance the Scooby burble.
I was shocked at how much of an improvement I got from just a back box.
How old are you by the way?

Cheers for the advice!
I'm 31; 1 year NCB since accident.
On the plus side, I live in one of the lowest risk towns for motor insurance in the UK (Fort William, NW Scotland).
(11 days to go, 11 days to go. 11 days to go.....)

eyeMAJIC ... just to keep your anticipation on the boil .. how did you feel the STi went without the PPP added? (You may not have driven one with PPP but what I'm getting at is did you feel the non-PPP'd STi lacked anything drive wise?).
I'm coming from an MY00+DP+BB and am looking at an STi in the next few months (well could be 9 months ) and probably wouldn't have the PPP fitted for a good while.
I'd still like to feel performance wise it's a small step up (looking at power to weight though it's not really) and I'm hoping the 6 speed box and different gear ratios make up for any deficit in low down torque.
I'd be interested in any opinions you can offer
Ta,
Doofus.

Hi Doofus,
Well, it's quite hard for me, because all I have to compare with is my old, standard WRX wagon (2001, 215bhp).
I know the main PPP benefits are described as massively more usable torque, and I think I can agree: the standard engine felt a little more more "power-band"-like than the totally linear, progressive nature of the Evo 260 engine... could there be a little turbo lag coming into play there too?? (if so, not much)
Mind you, the 6-speed box meant that there was never a moment when you couldn't have the revs right at any speed with a quick flick....
....and I'm probably splitting hairs talking about non-linear progressive power/torque delivery, because compared to the 215bhp engine, it was a MASSIVE step up.... "surfing the torque wave"
Definitely did feel like an engine that happiest over 4000RPM, though.
We'll see.
I want a shot in an STi PPP before Christmas now!!
