Well at least they turned up. BMW couldn't be arsed to appear at all. The UK is only their 3rd biggest market after all .......

Three WR1s spotted at Elvington today, together with what seemed well over a hundred other scoobs of all descriptions. Weather was a scorcher and a Supra with 950bhp through the rear wheels and a drag bike doing 8.99 and 153mph for the quarter were some of the non scoob sideshows!

Where did you get the idea that the WR1 is the "flagship" Impreza? The WR1 was a limited edition special build, no more no less. IIRC they had a World RallyCar on the stand, which is probably more Subaru's flagship than anything else.
