Default Extended warranty, yes or no?

I just recived a letter from my dealer informing me that my 3 years is up.

Question is whether this extended warranty is worth the money?

Your input guys would be appreciated.

Mine is a UK car wagon my01 wrx.

Don`t even know how much the extended warranty costs.

Unless it has recently changed the extended warranty is approx £260 for 1 year or £400 for 2 years.

Personally I reckon its worth it for the peace of mind it gives. I extended the warranty on my old P1 just before it popped a piston and had to have a £7K rebuild Well worth it in that case!!!

Yes - buy it - peace of mine is worth every penny - always.

Can be expensive if it goes wrong.

Question

Does anyone know whether Subaru Assist is included when you extend your warranty? That would be worth a few bob as well!

I was quoted about 700 for 2 years UNLIMITED milage warranty - I have to decide this week but as the down pipe is de-catted and the springs etc etc are changed I reckon any claim would be thrown out. My dealer said that wouldn't be a problem but they would wouldn't they?

When I bought my MY01 Bugeye from Bulldog Twyford at the end of Feb this year, it came with an extra year warranty/Subaru Assist, which I have checked by phone that it does apparently include roadside repair and recovery/onward travel, so it COULD be a bit like AA with Relay(that's worth over £100 per year). I am already a member of AA and my current tear expires next month. I am thinking of giving up AA for at least until Subaru assist expires next Feb, by which time I will make a decision as to whether to rejoin AA/RAC or renew Subaru warranty/assist. Does anyone have an opinion or further comment as to levels of service under Subaru Assist? - and whether it is a waste of time having both AA with Relay and Subaru Assist? In other words, is there any overlap in cover or am I in danger of missing out?

You can suspend your AA cover until the Subaru assist runs out,i do this every year as i go out of the country for months at a time.no point in having 2 types of recovery.

Keep both, if you breakdown phone both ... and the race is on
I have both AA & Scoob Assist ... AA is handy as it covers you no matter what car/bike you happen to be in/on. Scoob Assist only covers the Scoob ... shameless slacking IM

Yes, get it. It'll make selling the car easier as well.

Go for it unless you are planning any serious mods before it expires. Seem to remember it being about £460 for mine, maximum 60k miles. That includes 2 years breakdown cover so the warranty only really costs around £260. They also threw in a voucher for money of a holiday through Thomas Cook or such like. If you are able to use that then it's even cheaper.

Just extended the warranty for a further 2 years on my MY01 wagon and it cost approx £539. Peace of mind and the fact that it includes Subaru Assist (taken in isolation costs approx £75 pa) helps.

pmarch, Graz and aqua,

thanks for the info. The extended warranty alone seems like a good idea - but a couple of hundred quids worth of breakdown cover definitely swings the balance.

For example, a month ago, three ******* slashed my tyres (see treads passim) - and Subaru Assist got me to a garage for replacements. Would have been over a ton for a normal tow/lift, despite the damage not being my own fault!
