New speed camera's in Wycombe
Just to let the people who drive in and around Wycombe know that there are new speed cameras on Marlow Hill and they go live on Friday. They are on the way up and on the way down hill. There the new type that measure the time its taken you to travel a certain distance. They are half way up the lamp post with a black cover over them and quite difficult to spot.
The worst bit is the speed limit changes half way down the hill from 40 to 30. It hardly a accident black spot. But there going to catch a lot of people out.
So don't get court!

Thanks for letting us know that. I pass through there once a month or so.
I did see a big fatal accident there once though. On the decent, the remains of a vauxhall cavaler that had hit the exit to the hostpital at would estimate over 120 mph.
Still, its a shame the rest of us have to pay for some loosers idiotic actions.

"Go live on friday",
WOW what a relief!! I got pissed off by white van man cutting me up yesterday morning. So chased after him up the hill, still keeping to the 4,000 rpm limit, and then noticed, on the other side of the road, a guy up a ladder fiddling with a camera looking object. When I got close to the top of the hill there was a "Road Survey" van parked in the layby on the downside. Later on in the day I took a slow drive by to have a closer look. There are about 3 cameras placed on lamp posts, about 15 feet high, on the downside carriageway. The cameras are aimed at the up hill side. The cameras are not the Usual SPEC type so I'm not sure how they work (radar or average speed?).
I thought that I'd been clocked for sure, so mighty pleased to hear that they go live on Friday.
I found this link http://www.saferroads.org/
which shows all of the cameras in the area.

Are you sure about this?
The main website still only has marlow hill listed as a mobile only site.
I know there is a CCTV camera installed at the top (Big black lampost with black globe hanging from the top). But i wasnt aware of any SPECS type device being fitted.

Paul,
I think the camera you are describing is a CCTV camera (or even road tax - not too sure), but its def not a speed camera.
I went for a quick reccy at lunch and there do seem to be several new posts up on the downhill side. At the moment they all have canvas 'covers' on them so they appear to be currently inactive.
However they do look ominous as they are evenly spaced and pointing down towards the town centre.
If these are speed cameras (and i cant think what else they might be) then this is a particularly spitefull and cynical revenue raising exercise.
Everyone who knows this stratch of road will know its a very steep, long downhill stretch that starts as a 40mph and then drops to a 30mph zone.
As a speed trap this road must be pure gold as absolutely no-one slows to 30mph.
As far as I know (and i live here) there are hardly any accidents on this road.

Will also look tonight - the CCTV camera at the top of Marlow Hill does have number plate recognition built in... Maybe that has something to do with it?

Scrappy,
now i remember what the dome like cctv camera is for....allegedly they are for picking up stolen cars. hence the number plate recognition stuff.

id better watch out there then, i get bored of all the muppets around there.
The camera should also get all those muppets who have no idea how to get around them roundabouts & block the roads up

These new cameras are all over wycombe if you look hard enough, on top of the multistory watching the flyover by the fire station, bottom of pastures hill at the crossroads etc. These cameras can recognise plates, tax discs, seat belts, speeding and cctv, just look out for the tall black lamp posts with a black glass football on the top.
