Has anybody got one, run the car without the roof bars but with the little clips in roof trim in place? It squeels like a hyena when the pointing thing in front of me goes to 130beans!
How can i make it stop?

I have one but take the clips out when not windsurfing. They are easy to fit when you know where they are.

I am assuming you are talking about the saloon and not the wagon!

I have roof bars for my '02 WRX and I have never taken the "fixing tabs" off the roof - I have never experianced any noise from them on their own - add the roof bard and it sounds like a hurricane in a pan-pipe factory, even at walking pace! - My solution was to wrap duct-tape around the legs of the roof bars - closing up all of the holes - but then its not to easy to remove the roof bars later...

I`ve had the roof bars for my 02 saloon since i got it, and not noticed any real noise from the little clips. and no noticeable increase in noise with the bars on over other bars on other cars i`ve owned. Hope this helps.
