Angry Mobile speed trap Basingstoke/Reading

Just a quick note to any scoobynet readers around this area today (16th May)

Just passed a fairly well hidden mobile speed trap on the A33 between Basingstoke and Reading - take care!

I was stuck behind a caravan and several other cars so I'm okay

Hmmm on a dry, sunny clear day as well, best/safest driving conditions for weeks, imagine that

Should have reported the c*ck, he's probably on his way to a favourite haunt for the speed camera scumbags, sheffield end of the Dronfield bypass, lower edges in the layby on the left just before the sports field on the roundabout with the BP garage.

I always flick them the finger whenever I pass at 25mph, f*cking pric*s.

Stay sharp around Reading, Basingstoke, Alton, Odiham. Coppers are trying to stop bikers (like me) killing themselves on the A33, A339, A272. Extra special effort at the moment.

Result is they will also pick up some revenue from Scooby owners (also like me) as a bonus.

And on the A322 as you approach Bracknell - he sits on the left hand side of the dual carriageway about half way down. He can clock you as soon you pull out to overtake past the Windsor/Ascot junction.

and that a33 is a fun road

I used it for running in my scoobie - good job they weren't out there the day I could go past 4000 revs that would have been really bad

FAO Mart360

When I saw it, it was on the turning next to the little chef - it isn't hidden from people heading from Basingstoke to Reading, but at this time of year it is pretty difficult to spot from Reading to Basingstoke because the leaves are out.

They usually move around though - favourite spots are Duke of Wellington Monument, which does suffer a lot of accidents, also the downhill section just to the north of the Wellington Arms Hotel, the bridge just north of the Shefield on Loddon roundabout (long clear straight bit ) and I've seen them once operating out of the Jekyll and Hyde car park - this was before the change of management though, hopefully the new owners will tell them where to go!

Although running a pub I s'pose being on the right side of the law has it's advantages

dont recall seeing white vans or similar...... if they were hidden,, i will see a solicitor ......

i was coming back from m/head so the monument would have been on my side...

the only van i saw was on a small section of d/c blacked out windows hazards on... in a layby... but all the windows were up and it appeared empty...

i will contest that one too... lazer reflections of the glass etc...

june 10th..........give em a whupping

Watch out for the hidden camera on the A40 heading out of London, just past the Shell garage and after the speed camera (but before the BP) a van is parked up frequently with a whopping camera contraption that can't be seen until it's too late.

I'm still waiting to see a speed camera by a school or in a town centre anywhere, am I being cynical?

:-(

No I dont think you are being cynical....

Before they passed the law stating cameras had to be clearly marked I saw a Gatso behind a tree painted in camouflage. :/

PS Mike - Nice site - cant believe I havent seen it before !
FYI - Checked out the Metropolis page (we used to use stewart to do our mastering) and the main image is broken...
