Default Alarm not working near mobile phone masts

Can anything be done about the alarm on the classic sccob not working when its near a mobile phone mast? Is there any kind of signal booster etc. you can get for the alarm? It's really annoying having to use the keypad all the time!

Yes, i had the same problem on my MY00, contacted customer services at IM first, to clarify if there was an issue, got the guys name and mentioned to him what dealer i would visit, as the car was still under warranty, it would be done at no charge, told me to get the dealer to ring him if they had a problem, it took 20mins or so to do. Don't take no for an answer from a dealer, they all try it on.

yep - the Sigma M30 strikes again!!!

Get Subaru to change it under the warrantee (Free of charge!) - they get shot of the old controller box and install a shielded one - that blocks out all the unwanted RF signals etc.....

Even if the car's out of warrantee, this is a known issue with MY99/00 cars with the Sigma. The warrantee is actually with Sigma, but Subaru do it for them (IIRC)

Hope this helps

Dan

What about if the car is no longer under warranty?

Have you any idea how much it will cost? Has it fully resolved the problem now?

Cheers

aaaah, beat me to it scoobydoo555!

So do you think the dealer will do it even though the car is out of warranty? The car is an MY00.

I too have the same problem, found it out on my first day of Impreza ownership in Middlesbrough town centre at about 9pm - not much fun!

So, basically all us guys with dodgy alarms on my99-00, even with no warranty, can get this sorted out for free.

cool

Good news folks! I just rang my local dealer (Chandlers in Horncastle) & they are replacing the alarm control box free of charge when the car gets serviced on 15th May, even though it is out of warranty

Just found this problem with my00 that i got from subaru dealer a couple of weeks ago in the cheshire area and they will fit a change the unit for free, but i will have to pay for it to be fitted. A dealer in Newcastle under lyme in staffordshire said the same. Has anyone managed to get this done Cheshire or Staffordshire for free?

Cheers

I've been told the same, today. The alarm 'ecu' upgrade is free but I have to pay an hour's labour for it to be fitted. The car needs a service in June/July, so I'll get it done then.

I was told by two garages that it would take half an hour to do the swap as it's only a controller unit.
