I'm no guru on the scoob but if you keep checking back you should get some pretty useful advice on here m8. I don't see why you can't get yourself a fair deal with the money you've got. As long as it hasn't been thrashed you should be ok. The guys on here will give you plenty of things to look out for. Good luck and hope you get one soon.

if i were you i would try to get a uk model as apposed to the wrx or alike as i've had lots of minor niggles with my 94 wrx wagon (£5450 with 55000 miles) but as for major probs like turbo's going very uncommon if you ask me and if it does you can buy them off here for as little as £150!!

I know it sounds obvious but you could do with a couple more grand, the car you will buy will probably need work and it could end up costing you more in the end anyhow (repairs etc)
For about 7k you should get a facelift UK car with 50k ish miles

Avoid 97 - 98 cars IMHO..

Harder to tune

92 -96 best value, anything other than wrx wagon has a decent turbo on it for when you want to mod it.

I have found a 1994 SUBARU Impreza WRX Turbo, M reg. finished in silver with recaro seats, huge stainless steel sports exhaust, 17 alloys, air con, sunroof, CD player, truly stunning vehicle, 3 years warranty would that do the job for £5495??

Im 24 and tbh I was limited at the cars to choose from mate all WRX's went outta the windows cause I couldnt get insured on an import.

almost all the cars around the 5k mark are either imports or a very tatty UK car or if its clen it'll have high miles.

shame but true

I have bought a fantastic MY95 WRX ('94) for £5100, but it has done 95k and is an import.

The one I have bought is near enough immaculate and needs nothing apart from an interim service.

So it is possible, but as Davegtt says you are probably looking at an import, which was fine for me as I'm over 30 through L&V, but if you are under 25/30 will probably be very expensive to insure.

where'd you get that quote from? u sure that was for a UK car? all WRX's of that age are imports and I couldnt get 1 quote on an imported motor. everywhere u need to be 25/30 etc....

its not a fault with their computer system even though thats what it says, its actually a polite way off saying we dont cover imports or at least we cant cover you on an import (maybe down to age) try again on a turbo 2000 and you'd get a quote, you'll struggle to get a competitive quote for an import, trust me Ive just gone through it all
