Default price on rb5

An old bloke stopped me today after seeing me in my97 and asked me if I would like to buy an RB5. 35,000 miles, two owners, FSSH, totally standard and very good all round condition. I asked him how much? he said he didn't know how much it was worth. I was not sure either. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks Daz rb5 99

There are 2 at Subaru Main Dealers across the country obviously both MY99 T reg....

1) 32,698 miles - £14,995
2) 35,000 miles - £14,495

These cars make no mention of the WR Sport package so we'll assume they are standard, 218ps, mid level spoiler etc.

If the car has WR Sport then add circa £1000, since this was a £2750 option when new.

Hope this helps.

Edited to say.....

For a private sale, I'd go by roughly £1000 cheaper than dealer prices, as the RB's are holding their values well ATM.

Ian E i notice the RB5 (V401 ***) in the FOR SALE section you said about at £12000 (Now Sold)

Is the same car (V401 ***) which is for sale at Wilsons Subaru dealer . Only the price has jumped to £14495

So what extra do you get with the WR sport pack?

Also do you get the PPP with the WR sport pack,or can you get a RB5 that has both these on it?

Expect its the same car - dealers normally put 'em on the forecourt at £3000 ish above what they buy 'em in at.

So what extra do you get with the WR sport pack?
The WR Sport pack consists of PPP and Prodrive rear spoiler costing an extra £2,500 at the time.

The non-WR RB5 was simply a MY99 UK Turbo (218PS)

If an RB5 is referred to as WR, then it has the PPP as part of it, however some owners did retro fit the PPP to their non-WR RB5, so they will have the power, but won't have the tell-tale Prodrive spoiler!

You can buy the Prodrive spoiler as well Talizman. The only way to tell an original WR Sport version apart from an upgraded one is the original has a WR Sport badged rev counter that was fitted when the car was ordered from a Dealer.

As Talizman says the differences between the two are performance in terms of the PPP, the spolier AND rev counter badging.

The non-WR isn't just a MY99 UK as it has a STI bodyshell with fixed rear bulkhead, air-con, colour coding, map reading lights, PIAA spots, 17" alloys, blue alcantara interior, red piping on steering wheel & gear **** & unique number. So don't expect it to cost the same as a MY99 car. That's like saying the WR Sprt RB5 is just a MY99 with PPP

It IS the same in terms of power

Stefan

Ozzy is quite right that you can buy the Prodrive spoiler seperately, although you'd need to be mad since it costs in the region of £600 prior to paint IIRC

So in fact, there will be some RB's out there with the spoiler bought seperately,
and not as part of the WR package, hence no PPP

The non-WR isn't just a MY99 UK
I didn't mean that the cars are the same, I simply meant in terms of power Ozzy.
I currently own a WR RB5 and have owned a MY00 UK Turbo so I am very familiar with the differences.

I know, I was just winding you up. But as a non-WR owner I feel a bit inferior

AFAIK, Prodrive only ever did 1 type of PPP for the 99/00 cars. It was de-cat centre, backbox, ECU and IC hosing.

It sounds like you have the PPP and the car has had the DP replaced with a de-catted one. I don't ever recall Prodrive having their own de-cat downpipe. Certainly on the Prodrive site, they only have one PPP listed (part# SACC2443) for the MY99/00 cars.

Do you have a link to the different ones you describe?

LOL, maybe

I've been around Impreza's for 5 years and this is the first time I've heard about two different PPP's for a classic MY99/00 car. Not saying your wrong, but I think your car has the PPP, but has been de-catted. This will give it more power than any car just with the PPP fitted as the catted downpipe is very restrictive.

Certainly my std car with a full decat feels just as quick over certain roads than it did when I had my PPP. If I ran a little more boost, it would be quicker and compare to your de-catted, PPP'd car.

There is a lot of confusion over the RB5, but it only came in two flavours - std and WR Sport (PPP+Wing+Rev counter). If an RB5 is different from this spec. (e.g. Prodrive suspension), then the owner has requested these add-ons from the Prodrive accessories catalogue and it's not some special version.

Maybe the lads on the RB5 owners club could shed some light on it.

Perhaps the above would explain why some PPP figures are quoted higher than the WR RB5 237 bhp?

Possibly, but the quoted figures have always been a bit conservative. Over the years we've had std MY99 cars producing close to those figures with a decat and panel filter.

there was a thread on this in the old rb5oc forum, about a difference between wr and ppp
my car does have uprated prodrive suspension, i recon the previous owner did just put his own choice of goodies on, this 'stage 1/2/3' is just something i was told ages ago
