I agree with matt. "GOOD" classics are getting hard to come by now so don't let it go to cheap!!

That car in the garage has nearly double the mileage of mine, and I could put a warranty on mine for £150. In Scotland, Subaru's are worth more than in England cos there are fewer coming up int he Autotrader. I bought mine in England for that reason.

Mine is Royal Silver, but its not for sale just quite yet, still waiting on my M3 coming.

Het you not selling my car are you? Sound exactly the same....

Just for your info:

There a similar car in CVC Cardiff (Subaru Dealer) selling that for £12'000 (in green),

Heres the exact details

REGISTERED: OCT 1999
MILEAGE: 57,741
PRICE: £11,995

SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 TURBO AWD 4 DOOR
SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 TURBO AWD 4 DOOR FINISHED IN GREEN MICA WITH BLACK CLOTH INTERIOR. SPECIFICATION INCLUDES ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, ADJUSTABLE STEERING WHEEL, AIR BAG, AIR CONDITIONING, ALARM, ALLOY WHEELS, CENTRAL LOCKING, ELECTRIC WINDOWS, ENGINE IMMOBILISER, FRONT FOG LAMPS, HEAD RESTS, POWER STEERING, RADIO/CASSETTE AND REV COUNTER.

If i was honestly looking for a 99 model, I would expect to pay about £8k, maybe a bit less for a silver one as I dont like silver - as for the Scotland/England thing I dont think that has any bearing on price.

All down to condition .... is it truly mint ????

If it really is mint, I'd say for the sake of the cost of an advert, put it in at £10k or so and see what happens. you can always come down, but you'll kick yourself if you sell it too cheap.

As has been said, not many truly good ones left, so they will command a premium. Even the youngest classic is getting on a bit now !!!!

So many out there that are knocked about, been damaged, abused, had loads of paintwork etc. These are the ones that wont make the money.

Two things....Silver is a lot more desireable than the likes of white and red. And also, the Scotland/England thinh has a larger bearing on things than you might think: I bought the car down in England and saved at least £1000 on Scottish prices, maybe more. Its a diffrent Autotrader area, and a lot of people won't travel 3 hours to go see the right car like I did!

All true The problem is choice in that the buyer has plenty of it. If you want to sell a classic for good money (i.e £8500+) then you need to make sure its got zero negative points. It must have FSSH, be recently serviced, mint inside and out, un-modified, four recent tyres, unscuffed alloys, etc, etc. As soon as people an pick any fault with it they take loads off your asking price or more likely just move along to the next one.

Silver is only desirable to those people that like silver. I would prefer a red Scoob to a silver one any time.

IMHO

My point exactly...just because you don't like silver, doesn't mean that its worth less or the seller will give money off!! After all, it costs more to get a car made with metallic paint anyway!

When I was looking to get my Scooby nearly four years ago I did notice scoobys down south going for a grand less than in Scotland. I got mine in Liverpool from a dealer for under a grand less than they were going for in Scotland. The guy also brought it up for me to test drive.

Yes there may be fewer scoobies for sale in scotland but there are also fewer people after them. It also depends where you are in Scotland. I sold my MY00 last month, 78k miles but otherwise nowt wrong, only got £7,700. I'm near Peterhead and although I got plenty of interest, all from Scots, most weren't interested when they found out the location. First one who was prepared to travel, from Motherwell, took it.
Also depends on how quickly you need a sale, whether you're prepared to advertise and re-advertise as the price comes down.
Last bit of advise from me is if you are putting it in the trader pay for a BIG advert, obviously costs more and pisses you off at the time but bigger ads with multi pics do have more impact.
Good Luck
