Fuel cut defenser
#2
Johnny,
A fuel cut defender is something that stops the overboost safety cut-out working. There are various types, mostly electronic but also some mechanical types. Some just raise the limit others remove the limit altogether.
If you want to run boost much above standard you'll need to get one (or get an ECU controller with one built in).
Dawes do a simple mechanical type (for not too much money) that alters the measured boost pressure as seen by the engines boost pressure sensor, effectively raising the limit.
Be careful though, by fitting one you are removing (or altering the limit) of one the engines safety systems designed to stop itself going bang in event of a boost control failure.
As in most tuning options you pay your money and take your choice

On my MY93 the ScoobyECU raised boost cut to 18.5psi IIRC (originally 12.5), new boost target is 15.5.
