Hahaha

They must be taking the p*ss?!?

My brothers mate, who is 19, got a quote, third party fire and theft only, on a J reg Ford Orion diesel (non-turbo) and it was £3867 - he nearly died.

I think you may be right - some companies must be having some insurance problems.

Brin.

I got a quote for an impreza a couple of years ago when I was 21, and I thought it was for £1700. Which seemed ok. Then when I checked closer it was £1700 a month. Over 10 months that's 17000. Nearly died.

Big premiums are them saying they don't want your business..

I used to work for a company that wrote quotation systems - biggest quote we got the system to issue was for a 17 year old driving a lambo with a drink drive ban and a surname of Patel (IIRC) - was for around £50,000

sounds like there's a lot of little boy's out there wanting to play in the mans world of power.
Sorry, but this is only for us old geezers with atleast 5yrs no claims.
£740 per year for WR1, sweet

I can't see why you are all crying about the prices.
I was paying £1800 12 years ago when I was 22 for a 3 door cozzie.

There's no way around, you have the Pay to Play.
We've all been there

Cost me £780 to insure my RB5 in '99 (me was 26). Moved to Germany in 2000 and got full European cover and the price went upto £2200 By 2002 it was £2600

Now i'm 29 (just) and drive a German registered STi8 and it costs me €2600 (£1700) for full Euro cover.

While i was dribbling all over the Ferrari Enzo at our local dealers, the sales guy was telling me that the owner who is a local car collector, this being his 39th car on the policy, paid an extra premium of £20,000 to add it. For a car which will probably do less than 2k a year, and could never be stolen (if it was, who would you sell it on to, being as there are only 3 men in the world authorised to service it).

About 15 years ago I got quoted on a TVR S (remember them!!) over 3500 for fully comp. That's when 3.5k was a lot of money

Isn't there a way of making a legal declaration, thereby negating any need for insurance? This has got to be a cheaper way then paying in excess of 10k for insurance.

The winner of a 'who can get the highest insurance quote ever' competition was won by Rum* a year or so back(unfair advantage being an insurance broker ) who obtained a quote for a 17 year old driver with 0 no claims, drink driving ban with diabeties/heart condition etc etc for a Ferrari F40 in Mosside. If I recall the winning premium was something like 52K per year.

It's probably about time we had a rematch.

I can beat that. Received a quote a few months back for £65,827. Cheapest was just over £38K, but that was with a slightly (cough!) higher voluntary excess.

Lol, that's actually quite cheap. Bearing in mind they'd assume it very likely that the car would be written off, and quite possibly multiple persons injured in the shunt, if anything I'd have expected the premium to be considerably higher...

Well I am bloody happy with Norwich Union who quoted me £270 TPFT for a 1994 WRX import! Ok, I am over 30 but still, it's bloody cheap. And no tracker needed!!! I looked for quite a while and they more than halved all other quotes. It's worth shopping around.
