Question '03 STi - questions!

Looking into a STi as my possible next car (currently have a Civic Type R for sale)...i've seen a couple of STi's advertised at garages on 03 reg, 10k miles, FSH & 1 owner for around £18k.

Is this a decent price?
Will these be bug eye or latest shape? when did the latest shape become the 'norm'?
Will these cars be the Type UK or is this a different limted edition model or something?!
What are the service intervals and how much at each service..usually?!
Anything out the ordinary i should look out for?

Thanks for any help...point me in the right direction if this has been asked loads in the past!

Insurance might be a bummer as well...i'm 28, 9yrs ncd, clean licence and my wife is 24. Cheapest i've got so far is ~£940 from Tesco...yet to try Elephant & Admiral as the sites are down, have had good quotes on the Civic just recently from those 2.

£940 is pretty good for an STi TBH. Give L&V a try, but they can be funny about under 30's. Very good if you like mods though as they don't give a hoot.
Make sure the car is a Type UK (go so far as to get the VIN no. checked before final purchase) as Subaru UK/IM can be very @rsey about servicing some imports (beware of non EU, Cyprus/Malta).

duckson your insurance stats are the same as mine, wife 24 etc. and that`s what I paid for insurance. Only Tesco`s don`t like mods, so for my second year I went with Admiral. Cause I`ve got the Prodrive springs and a different backbox.

On a 03 reg it should be lastest shape. The new shape was releases here in Jan/Feb so there are some on a 52 reg. £18k from a dealer is a very good price, it could be that it`s a import not a TypeUK, (which is the UK dealer supplied version. including 3 yr warrenty, RAC Tracker, Cat 1 Alarm, and a sweet Type UK badge.)

Service Intervals are 1k for 1st service (charged for oil only) then 10k or 1 yr. My 1st 10k service was £152.

Cheers chaps.

Phoned the place and it IS a Euro import (so cant be a Type UK like it says on the ad?). It says it has alarm/imoob and tracker retrieve.

also insurance is coming out at £786 on Elephant with PNCB as well. Excess would be £350 for me and £500 for wife so thats not bad at all (quote was on a STI TypeUK not a Euro STi import though).

18k is a very good price. My STi has the same mileage and would have expected to get a bit more for it. A rare colour would be an added bonus.
