boy racers make me laugh :-)!!!
a m8 from my school has set up a web site for called "cruise south west" and its full of the tw*ts back home who spend there friday night in their novas racing around. so i did a post about my opinions of them and got some amazing replys...
but to top them all is this one
" have driven a Scooby, and i have driven a Nova, and i have to admit, a Nova even though its lower powered is alot more fun!, no PAS, ABS, TC, Gay engine management, Just shear all round fun, Given the choice and as much money as possible I would mod the Nova!"
maybe im just narrow minded but they wind me up big time

Borich - don't rise to their bait on the forum; you're wasting your time, mate!
You raised some valid points on there, but if those guys are happy driving and modding their cars...let them be! When I was younger and couldn't afford a 'decent' car, I would try and mod whatever car I owned just for that little bit of difference to the drive, so I can understand where most of them are coming from. After the age of 30, though, I started swapping bodykits for airbags...and spoilers for baby seats! (if you get my drift).
I couldn't give a donkey's **** about all that "who's car is faster" crap...it's so pathetic! I chose to buy a Scooby for many reasons: four wheel drive, motorway acceleration, and practicality of a four-door Wagon (to name just a few things).
If some fool wants to boost his fragile ego by 'beating me' off the lights in his Nova/Saxo/309, then that's fine with me...

i'm sure most of the scoob owners have been in these guys' position, then why mock them?
As someone mentioned, it's like a Skyline/Supra/RX7/GTO/300ZX owner coming here and taking the ****.

As i said I have both ........a 300 odd horse scoob and a boy racer car. They are both totally different and both great fun.
I have just spent the weekend with a group of guys with their 300 to 600 bhp cars and they ALL respected me in my 145bhp car just as much as their mates. I have driven my car to the absolute limit the same as they have, I have had just as much fun as they have. Oh and yes that included overtaking a scoob, an EVO, an M3 and a 911.
Why cant people just respect that these guys are simply enthusiasts the same as we are. They polish their cars to death, the same as us, they mod their cars, the same as us, they love their cars, the same as us....Just coz we do it on a slightly higher budget, it dont make us better than them does it??? If one comes up behind you he is gonna chance his arm, the same as you would if you were sat behind a ferrari as the traffic clears and he guns it.
Oh and lastly, I would back a PROPER driver in a 1.6 focus against a newbie in a ferrari anyday...

i dont see why people take the mick. We all do the same to an extent when we all meet up, pub car park, stand around and chat, and its not a spotty teenager always doing a doughnut etc. Have been to a few scooby meets where some doughnuts have been performed, and plenty of flooring up and down a near by bypass.
Why not just let them be, get on with what they want.
Sounds like you just dont like the people back "home" and want us to have a go at them?

Borich has a point when he says he can't see the point in adding a crappy bodykit to a car. Same thing applies to an Impreza, Skyline or even a 1.0 Nova, doesn't matter what it is, the results usually look crap and detract from performance. Cosmetic modifications are a waste of time, if people want to do it then let them but equally if people want to laugh at the result then surely that's OK as well?

As I've stated in my reply on that forum, I don't have a problem with them modding their cars. But you've got to admit some of them just look hilariously bad.
The reason I replyed on there is because of the slating of Scoobs that is going on. Slagging Scoobs off seems to be the latest thing on car related forums. I don't expect everyone to like the same car, but it seems that most people who are slating have never actually driven one, and they are just slagging them off because it seems the 'in' thing to do.

I'm with the "everyone to their own" and when young and on a budget you will do what you can with the money you have for maximum individuality, the only thing about the cruise forum and many others is the SPELLING!! Is this a sign of "fings" to come, the text generation

had a clarkson vid where they rated a 106 better than a skyline for fun. they said all the electronic wizardry in the skyline made it boring.
