Talking Non-turbo Legacy?

What are these cars like? Any good?
Does anyone know how they'd compare with, for example, an impreza GL?
Fuel economy?
Nice to drive?
etc...etc...

That Range Rover isn't working out. Too big, too much fuel, & not enough useful space

So I'm thinking of either an old Legacy of around a ~92 vintage, or a slightly newer impreza, similar to the GL 1.8 I just sold...

I'm after reliability, a decent amount of space for the windsurfing stuff, a decent turn of speed (non-turbo, as I'm only young, & insurance is still nasty), & as reasonable economy as any scoob......As long as it's better than the 24-26 I'm getting at the moment, I'm not hugely bothered.
Any experiences/views?

Thanks in advance

My ex has a Legacy Limited. Its got better brakes than my sport, goes faster, and is a better spec full stop. Insurance wise, its grp 15. And is huge!!! I didn't believe the sales man when he said it was only 20cm longer than my sport!! If you need the space then go for it as they are the same chassis as the impreza.

My dad is on his second Legacy. Great cars to drive with plenty of kit as standard and lots of useful space. Can't really compare it to my Type R though
