Default Impreza Servicing

Hi this is my 1st post
Have just sold my Saxo VTS privately and am considering buying a WRX STi Type UK 265bhp, could anyone tell me how much i'll be paying for a service and how often they need servicing?

Thanx in advance

1yr 10k services, dunno about the cost but possably a cheap 1 year service (120 quid) and a more expensive 2 year service (300+ quid).
I wont even mention how much a 4 year service will cost you but not much change from 600 quid!

Thanx Tony, not too bad then. Citroen have been charging me £120 quid on this little car!
Been doing my homework on few other cars and an Evo8 needs servicing every 4500miles or 6 months! and Focus RS first service is £158

Hi Peachy! Good to c a familiar face
I got some time before the Saxo goes but the STi is on my shortlist, got about a 20k budget so dunno wot reg that'll get me.
Did think service intervals were 6 months but looks like 12 so thats a plus point!

Only have a WRX, but the first service (10,000 mile) was £175, which was better than the £210 quoted by my other local dealer. A majority of this is the 1.5hrs labour at £75/hr.

Also add to that the front pads that needed replacing (£150 + fitting), and the new tyres that went on a week after the service (minimum ~ £400), and it starts to get a little expensive.

Not trying to put you off, but I just want to make sure you think carefully about how much they are to run (some people may get away with just a service every year, but that depends how you drive.... and I didn't buy it to go slowly!).

If you do buy, have fun (it is hard not to!)

Well ive a JDM MY03 STi so my services are still 10000km (7.5k miles) or 6 months, plus i have the added advantage of needing to change the gearbox oil every year rather than every 2 years (so more expensive to service than a UK STi).
No other expenses apart from that really (except they dont do my tyres over here )

My impreza needed front brake pads every service @ 7,500 miles (no track-days ) and front tyres every 4,500 miles (goodyear F1's) and rears every 6,500 miles.

Not to mention an average of 16.7mpg over 32,000 miles in a 250bhp MY99 UK car

and lets not talk (again) about the cost of the blown engine and gearbox and 2 clutches, 2 wheel bearings, springs, shocks, ... list is truly endless..

..in summary, they break very easily in standard (or relatively close to standard) form if driven hard

Think carefully about the true cost.

Went to my local Subaru Dealer this afternoon, 6 WRX to choose from. Starting at £18k and going upto £22.5k for an 03-plate STi
so basically i'm defo gonna be needing a service every 6 months for around the £150 to £200 mark and high wear on tyres and brakes etc?

Also how much woz the WRX STi Type UK brand new?

Approx 25k for a new STi, it does come with alot more than the wrx does (big brakes, quicker steering rack, suretrac diffs, better clutch and gearbox etc) but not to everyones taste to live with on a daily basis.
1yr intervals for uk cars and they are warranted so dont worry about it
JDM cars are more powerful out of the bag and their market states 7.5k/6 month

Thanx again Tony every 12 months sounds better dont it! Wonder y Evos are every 6 months then as they're similar-ish powered cars.
Got a budget of around £20k to £21k and woz hoping for the new shape, maybe i just picked an expensive Dealer.

Hmm spose i could stretch another grand for the rite car
Along wiv the STi i've been looking at....

Evo7, expensive running costs, heard about brake and clutch problems and expensive Dealers.
Focus RS i've heard no bad things about them and they're cheaper to insure and rare.

Decision time for me in a few weeks when the old Saxo goes!

luxie mate! compared to an sti the RS isn't really that quick (in a straight line anyway) iv'e had a couple try it on with me in my MY98 wrx classic and i really did pull a very long way ahead of them....but...they are rare, well usually but i seen 4 today and out of them 3 cars i'd choose the sti without a doubt

Thumbs up

Luxie, if it helps the 10K service cost for my MY03 STi PPP was approx £150 although I also change the oil every 5K as I think the 10K intervals are too long.

The only thing that really costs (apart from insurance!) are the fuel bills as you'll struggle to get more than 230 miles from a tank which can be a bit costly if u r doing a lot of miles.

Seems to be some good value cars for sale at the moment - happy hunting

Mate, you have to buy this http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...35#post3213135
Under £21k for a top of the range STi with 5,000 miles is a very good buy. I'm seriously thinking about it myself

if i had that sort of money, i'd get a classic for about 10k and spend the rest on mods, just think how good it would be with 10k of mods!

You should be able to barter a dealer down to 23k for an STi UK, or 18.5k for a WRX (add PPP and you'll have brand new 265bhp Scoob for 20.1k). But keep an eye on the For Sale section on here and there are loads of STi8's selling all the time. When I was looking for my WRX, there were 8 UK STi's on here at the same time. With a lot of people moving up to WR1's, T25's and JDM STi's, there are many available. 2nd hand 03 WRX's with PPP are a little rarer, but I got mine for 16.3k (inc Tracker).

As others have mentioned, budget for insurance too. I'm 34 and L&V do mine for 800 (full NCD, no points) but if you're under 30 they mightn't touch you. You could be well over the 1k if you're in your 20's.

Happy shopping.
