Import help please
Hello everyone,
I should be going to look at a 1993 import WRX today, but i would like a quick bit of advice on what to look out for. I have been told it has a 280Bhp engine, is there any easy way to check this? I have heard about the red top engine, but just need to confirm really.
Also, i run my current car on optimax all the time, and wil continue to do so with the scooby, should i need octane booster as well all the time?
Thanks in advance !
Rich

hi mate if its a 93 wrx they came in 240 psi engine so the owner must have some serious mods done to it to get it upto that.to this i think he would have to have full decat, downpipeand a remap a few other things.has he had it on the rolers to prove that figure or he may be saying it off the top of his head.
also youd definately need to run optimax with octanwe booster if it hasnt been mapped to uk fuel.also investing in a knocklink would be a good investment

second the above mate 280 is not standard could be sales speak. Check the clutch and have a good listen to the engine to see if its smooth and check the exhaust fumes, non of the black stuff. If it feels good then you should be fine definately run it on optimax and octane boostre if you can afford it.
Enjoy

I have an import and have not had any problem infact it seems better then many uk specs i have seen in ever aspect. I have been luck in that sense but you have to watch out for millage tampering very important. Have look that it has not had any hits buy checking the each linement example doors bumpers and bonnet;last but not least the paint work. Engine might seem abit dirty but that is normall but listen to any funny/tapping sound coming from the engine.
