Anything else apart from a tracker to keep my car safe?
Hi everyone!
I am going to be soon the proud owner of a brand new scooby wrx (definately one up from my citroen crapso vts)..... 12 days I have to wait, oh the sleepless nights!!
What I want to know apart from getting a tracker fitted what other deterents can I fit to deter theives from pinching my soon to be pride and joy?
I was thinking of a steering lock but dont know if they are worth the money?
Any idea's would be greatly appreciated!!!
Cheers everyone

Hows it? - i have a phillips wireless baby alarm in the garage and one in the bedroom. This little beast (£20 from argos) will pick up any noise (i.e. if the garage is being broken into)....
It worked around 2 months ago when the garages behind my house were being broken innto... We heard it and scared them off - before they got into the garage..... garages (broken) can be seen htpp://www.subaru-impreza.org/gallery.shtml
It really works - serious stuff - a bug in the garage!
Good luck with the new car

A tracker is good to have but not really a deterent. The last thing you wan't to do is advertise that you have one, just lets them know to look for it.
There are many threads here about security and no definite answers. But something visible and physical like a disklock is going to make them think twice or at least slow them down/make a noise trying to get it off.
Enjoy the car

I'll second the Blackjax vote. Superb whether they knick the keys or carjack you, they won't get very far. Strongly recommend Disklock too, although some only prefer to use them overnight as it can delay a speedy exit should it be required. Steel post in driveway or well secured garage is a given. One of the best devices I have is a PIR light which has a remote alarm so I instantly know if anyone is on my property day or night, here .
Scroll to Blackjax info here Local Clifford dealers will install (Unicar are good).

Disklok is best visual device, but get a clifford fitted with proxy sensors so if any one goes near your scoob it bleeps to let um no its belled up and also lets you no someones having a look at your car.Blackjax is a very good idea on clifford alarms,i had it on my last car,but beware,if its activated on your alarm its NOT thatcham approved, and the thieves may cause damage to your car cos they couldnt get it away,n your insurance would not cover it!!

from my experience nothings going to stop some theiving piece of sh!te from stealing your pride and joy. all i aim to do is make mine slightly less attractive to nick than the next blokes. ie proper alarm, 2nd immob, disklock, big pole on drive, gear stick lock (cr@p i know but its 2 secs more they've gotta spend) i also i've not cleaned it for 6 months so it looks a right knacker!!!

Don't leave the keys out in the house. The gall of some thieves is such that they will walk into your house and risk being caught, offering up some ****-and-bull story about "thinking it was an acquaintance's house" if they are apprehended. Physical visible deterrents can be best, e.g. Disclok, security post- although frustration might cause the thieves to do wilful damage. Don't advertise it.. keep it out of sight if possible.
