What are the signs that your coil has broke my car misfires and stutters like made when its cold what is that a sign of?

I am no mechanic but it does sound like your coil packs,my scooby was always a bit jerky around town and when i went to get a few mods done the garage noticed 3 of the 4 packs were perished,quite common on early imprezas because of the hot location they are in.
They cost about £50 each,though!
Car runs a hell of a lot better now.
