Question WRX & Sti V6 import: how can i tell the difference?

Apart from all the 'fancy' shell and the words Sti printed everywhere, how can i tell if the car i am buying is, infact, a bone-i-fied Sti, and not a glammed up WRX with funny paperwork.

Anyone know the tell-tell signs?

What am i looking for under the bonnet?

Or go to www.iwoc.co.uk. Click on japanese domestic market then model designation. There`s a list of model code`s, one of which will be stamped on the vin plate in the engine bay. Just look at the code for a sti 6 and see if the car has the same code.

red inlet manifold that you can't miss when you open the bonnet

aluminium suspension front control arms

chassis code (7 didgit starting GC8 = saloon or GF8 = wagon). if the next to last didgit is a number (7 or 8) it is a WRX. if it is a letter (D E F) its an STI

GC8F27D = WRX

GC8G2FD = STI

dont think you should expect water spray.

I think it is model dependent.

plus you can get waterspray on a non sti too!
