Default Dumpvalves

Mods, please move if in the wrong place, wasn't quite sure where to post.

I know that the pros (very little) and cons have been debated to death but I still fancy replacing the standard unit with a Vent to Atmosphere. I know it's a bit max power but ever since I've owned a scoob (some 4 years now) I've resisted the temptation, not sure how much longer I can hold out.

Has anyone experienced bad idling or any other side effects on a MY01 UK WRX (PPP with a full decat )?

I'd probably go for a forge as The HKS/Blitz jobbies are far too expensive.

Any comments (possitive or negative) will be gratefully received.

Cheers

Chris

The main issue seems to be with over fuelling on lift off. Hence you get more pops, bangs, and possibly flames with a full decat. The downside is you may suffer bore wash. Gradually your oil will become more and more contaminated and diluted by the excess fuel. Ultimately this is not good for your engine and it may expire prematurely

Greasemonkey will be along shortly for some detailed advice.............

Personally I'd avoid the Forge ones. Very disappointed and given the ones that I see for sale on this forum I'd say others are too.

Worth paying the extra IMHO. Shame you missed the HKS group buy mate. They were £140.00 delivered!!

Talk to Simon Lau about a price before you decide. I missed the GB but he has done me a smashing price all the same!

Thanks for the replies.

So HKS looks like the one to go for, shame I missed the group buy

Slightly worried by Graz's comments though, can anyone elaborate. I know Greasemonkey knows his stuff, hopefully he can shed a little more light on the subject

RLE, thanks for the tip off, but looks like I'm too late.

Cheers

Hmm, seen Greasemonkey's comments in another thread in general tech which confirms Graz's comments on overfueling

Car has PPP ecu and not a map, does this make matters worse?

Heart says get one, head says bad idea.

I am running a HKS SQV on MY00 UKTurbo PPP with no problems so far. The valve has however certainly helped the lag between gear changes and with a front cat still in place I do get the odd pop here and there

I would just like to put my pennies worth out there.

Scooby 3yrs old 35,000 mile.
Blitz dump vaule along with a number of other mods.
Running at aprox 290bhp just out of warrenty and the conrod wanted to play
a little more that I expected and stuck his head out of the block on the way home.
Doing around 90 at the time.
Quickest £4 grand I spent on a re-build.

Just watch out for the dump valve.

I think it wa down to my heavy right foot things went wrong
