STI weight reduction

STI weight reduction
Been challenged by a mate in an EVO8 GSR up the pod this year(theres a bit of money riding on it), think I need some weight reduction, what can I remove from my 03STI PPP....to make it that tiny bit faster. Thinking of seats, aircon, spare tyres, failing that, i could chop my legs off........

Removing the aircon isn't worth the p*ssing about if this is just a one-off grudge match. Entire system (including the bits under the dash) weighs about 8kg, and given the hassle involved in removal and refitting, it ain't worth it.
Beyond that, passenger seat, rear bench and back, boot carpet, spare wheel, jack, toolkit, waterspray tank nearly empty, windscreen washer tank empty, fuel tank as empty as you can get away with without encouraging pickup problems. You can go further, but how much hassle do you want to volunteer for?
Most important thing though, if this is a straight line deal, would be to practice your technique. If he hears you're putting your car on a diet to beat him, he may well do the same thing. OTOH if your execution on the day is absolutely perfect, he'll have to do well to keep in front, no matter what the accelerative capabilities of your cars.

Indeedy, along with CD player, 2000W amplifier array and pair of sixteen inch boot mounted subs.
Other useful one would be replacing the standard battery with a little motorsport one. Instant saving of 10-12kg.

They're very good for their size, but not the same capacity as a road car battery, no. That's why the WRC cars usually use a jump battery when being cold-started.
