Hi all i am having a bit of a mare wth me scoob .It is a 2001 wrx had it since new been a fantastic car BUT in the last couple of months it has started to hesitate slightly at about 4000 rpm.I have taken it back to my dealer loads of times and they are crap.I think i know more about engines than they do and all i know is that it is at the front of the car .
Anyway they have changed the airflow meter and it has made no difference has anyone experienced anything like this or can anyone point me in the direction of someone who could help.I live in Suffolk if anyone can point me to someone who can help it woul be great

....if none of the techies on here reply it's probably going to be worth your while taking it to one of the excellent aftermarket tuning companies we have on offer here in the UK. Like you I have been very unimpressed by the general level of mechanical knowledge in the official Subaru dealerships --> but have always been pleased with work done at Powerstation, TSL, Scoobysport etc

Hmm... 2001 "bugeye" I guess it's coming to the end of it's warranty so it may be time to think about visiting an independent specialist for help and advice and maybe adding a few more bits and pieces....beware, once started its a very slippery slope
If you can give an indication of where you live I'm sure somebody will recommend someone .
Midlife.....
PS not all Subaru Dealers are the same...... Stan Palmers here in Carlisle superb

Mine is doing it as well, does yours also seem to hold a particular boost a bit longer than normal? My dealer diagnosed it as a failing MAF and also said these had a bit of a cack ECU on em, not sure how true this is but I do know they did get replaced on the 2002 models. Awaiting a MAF to fit and will let ya know if this helps any. I hear that you can get your ECU programmed to the newer version via Ecutek software, anyone care to comment any further.

Clive Atowe in Norwich is the man to try. He runs a 01 WRX himself and has loads of experience with scoobs. He'll be able to pop it on his rolling road and tell you far more than any Subaru dealer.
