I can't open the drivers door on my car (WRX03) from the inside, all other doors are fine and can open the drivers door from the outside. Is there some funny security thing I'm not aware of or is it broken.

It's probable that the linkage from the internal handle to the catch, has popped out.

Your dealer will put it back in short order. If you need to do it yourself, it's a doorcard off job.

I have the same problem sometimes but that's usually down to my lardy **** being in the way

Seriously, take it straight back to your dealer. If you needed to get out quick and couldn't you could have a real problem. A few months back someone had a puncture on the road up from us, 70mph dual carriageway and got stuck sideways across the first two lanes. They just got out before being hit by a truck. No-one hurt thankfully but imagine if that happened with a dodgy door. Take it back mate.
