Newbie but very important ?
Hey guys I'm new to Impreza's & I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have the chance to buy an 2002 WRX Impreza from CARMAX but it might be sold though. I will find out Saturday. I might also have a chance to buy an 2003 Impreza (both turbo's) from a Subaru dealer here in Memphis TN.
Ok, My BIG question is: Is the 2003 the same exact car as the 2002 engine wise and also the styling of the car? I mean would I be able to buy 2002 aftermarket parts for the 2003. I am already planning on upgrading the turbo, exhaust pulleys, etc.... Would I be able to lets say..... buy a AEM pulley set (MADE for the 2002) to put on my 2003. Any help will be greatly appreciated
This is basically the only thing holding me back from purchasing the 2003 because I haven't seen any aftermaket parts that said for the 2003 Impreza
Thanxs in Advance

If you're in the US, I believe the year used to describe the car is out of step with the rest of the world - so your 2004 car is actually the one that was offered for sale during 2003, right?
So, my understanding is that your 2002/2003 car was the bugeye, with the facelift coming in 2004 and the model that's just coming in now being the 2005. In this case the 02/03 cars are the same, but the 04 is slightly different. The UK model went from 215bhp to 225, so there must have been some minor change (although I doubt it would affect the fitment of major engine parts) - I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to state whether the US model changed too.
Personally I wouldn't worry too much, and would definitely go for the newer car. I strongly suspect that the bugeyes will be hard to sell in a few years' time when facelifted cars are available with similar age/mileage.
