Question Extended Warranty MY00

Last March, I extended my warranty as my car was reaching 60,000 miles. I've just received a renewal notice for it, but at the bottom i notice it says "the Subaru Proven Renewal Warranty package is only available if your vehicle has covered less than 80,000 miles". Mine is at 88k.

Does this mean:

a) I simply can't renew it? Time to buy another car!
b) I can still renew it but it will cost more
c) They will try and palm me of with some crap warranty which isn't the same as the normal manufacturer's warranty

Anyone have direct experience of this?

Andy,

My last Turbo (the silver 5dr) had an extended warrantee - never renewed it because there was no point - the mileage was so high it wouldn't have (and didn't) affected re-sale. The important thing is now FSH.

I've done the same with my new(er) one

Got my local garage (of whom I know are good) to service and fill in the book. AOK

Just my 2p, at this age there's no point in warrantee - like you say, you've had your money's worth out of the intial warrantee

HTH

Yes but my engine is only 40k old so will probably blow up soon. Its not like it has an easy life!!! And its still on the original gearbox, which is currently liking to crunch when 3rd is selected at high revs

A) Spose i'd best find a loan to pay off my finance, as its worth a grand total of **** all.
B) Get more finance/loan and buy a Fiesta to drive to put all the miles... hmm..

I've got extended warranty on my 98 classic turbo with 45k miles.

SiDHEAD, is your's at 40k or 88k???

Don't think the gearbox is covered by warranty, not sure, is it viewed the same as the clutch and exhaust, wearing parts?

I understand they will not take you on if you are over the mark.

As you must also have a FSH, you won't be able to kid anyone as you'll have a service stamped passed 80k anyway. But if you hadn't reached that mileage for that last service stamp you could have phone a garage and subscribed over the phone saying you're just under 80k!

I subscribed over the phone and they asked how many miles I'd done but weren't interested in seeing the car. Mind you, I'd only done 23k then!
