uk vs Import
Hi guys just wondering how many of the import owners, which seems to be alot of you according to the survrey, have experienced problems with thier scoobs. I,ve owned a wrx import 1997 with decat and induction 280 bhp and have had few problems apart from the fragile maf sensor. Listening to some of the stories on this site i am beginning to think i should get rid of it before it goes bang. I must admit i love the car and everyone that has been in it says that it's one of the fastest scoobs they have been in. I run it on optimax and like i say apart from the maf everything aok. Am i just worried over nothing? Or have a lot of you had probs with imports?

Eddy,
Have a 97 STiV3 with 320bhp and 290lbs/ft can report no problems after two years of fairly hard ownership ,Trackdays etc. Stick with it I dont think they are any less reliable than a UK spec.

ive got a 97 wrx which is nigh on the same, stuck 20k miles on it last year
and they were hard as nails miles as well
approx 60 drag strip runs and a few other bits and bobs
ive been running increased boost as well, i wouldnt worry to much, i belive the sti model is more fragile due to a more agressive map

cheers guys sounds like there is no real difference in reliability between the two, i'll just make sure i keep giving her the same loving care as ever (the car not the misses) and things should be ok.

a LOT of the stories you hear about engines blowing are from people running 20%+ more boost than standard. obviously if you're raising boost and power without going internal, you're going to reduce engine life (that's a given).
be interested to see how many near-stock wrx owners that have remapped for optimax, using knockink, regular servicing and running standard-ish boost have had serious problems?
