My scooby is sick, any ideas?
Preview
For a while now, my scooby sometime decides it doesn't want to start. When it doesn't want to start, the following happens:
Every time I turn the ignition, the alarm chirps.
Not much power when using the electric windows.
Both trip counters reset themselves to 0.
I takes quite a few attempts to get it started and every time I try, the power seems to get stronger and stronger until it eventually starts.
I have a feeling it could be the battery because of the trips resetting and little power in the windows. Could a faulty battery cause this?
Any of you wonderful scooby peeps have any idea what it could be?
Please feel free to ask for any additional information.
Thanks,
Paul

Alarm chirping on turn over is a sure sign of voltage drop which is nearly always the battery. I assume when the engine is running every thing is fine so we can rule out the alternator? Almost certainly the bat IMHO and my car does it too. In fact, I've not started my scooby in 4 days. There is no danger it would turn over without jump leads if I tried to start it right now.

I had very similar symptoms when my car was 3 yrs old. It was just the battery needing a top-up. The car's now 4 years old and although I keep thinking I'll need a new battery soon, it still manages to start every morning.
